I think it would be interesting for us to share our 2018 New Year Resolutions and specifically for the Mooney you are in charge.  First it is nice to know that others are spending money, not just me, and it may give others ideas for maintenance and upgrades.  Here are mine...

1. Get my bird out of the Avionics shop.  She has been there for rest and TLC for 3 weeks and I'm feeling it

2. Fix a pesky oil leak at annual in January. One of the thru bolts is leaking around the nut.  Hopefully we just torque and go... I have my doubts it will be that simple

3. Replace the oil hoses to and from the oil cooler

4. Remove the ram air system and seal that ugly hole under the spinner.

5. Redo the upper cowl cover, apply new carbon fiber stiffener, and paint/cosmetics touchup on the cowl. Special thanks to @jetdriven for photos in 2015 cowl alignment thread

Not for the plane itself, but my personal is to get the IFR ticket, I've been working on the home study part off and on for a while. Ready for CFI time. Would also like to start working toward Commercial..IFR is a must. A good start or possibly finish the Commercial by the very end of the year would be great!!

Modest goals...

CPL flight test.

Multi endorsement.

Resist urge to spend many AMU on avionics upgrades.

I have a number of things on the Mooney list but most are more than a year away. For the coming year they would be :

1. Fly more than 2017 (Logged just over 140 hours in 2017)

2. Put a GPS/NAV/COM in the plane.

3. Replace the dying ADI, thinking of a G5 but really interested in what Dynon is doing right now.

4. Begin working on IFR once #2-3 are done.

5. Take as many friends and family members on flights as possible. (2017 I think I took 9 or 10 people on their first small plane ride)

6. Update my blog on a more regular basis, right now I'm a couple posts behind....

Posted

- Fly my first Angel Flight mission

- Fly in the Mooney Caravan into Oshkosh (already signed up for the Gunfighters clinic in Feb)

- Earn my CFI

- Succumb to panel upgrade temptation

1.  Finish IFR ( end JAN )

2.  Add GPS to Birdy, maybe G5's

3.  fly at-least 125 hours this year.

4. probably not osh but one of the aopa fly-ins

5. stretch goal -- cpl and multi

6. OH YEAH  -- been meaning to take her up to her service ceiling, thinking this should be fun.

Buy a Cirrus VisionJet!

After all, aren’t New Years resolutions supposed to be forgotten on New Year’s Day?!

Hoping to donCPL, CFI and MEL.  In reality we have a new PP due in May- so I’ll be happy if Incan get the commercial done

A suggestion for a New Years resolution:
