Seeing clearly in 2020 (it's cheesy and get used to it as "Seeing Clearly" will be overused in 2020):

What are your aviation goals for 2020?

What did you accomplish in 2019?

2019:

-Earned Multi Commercial License (multi and multi commercial at the same time)

-Attained over 1500 hours (closing in on 1800)

2020:

-Get my Mooney back up in the air and report on 4 blade MT Prop

-Assist in holding largest Mooney Summit ever at new location in Tampa

-Earn a new rating, maybe two (ATP, Tail-wheel, maybe ground instruction, maybe written)

-Depending on timing, maybe bring my daughter to Oshkosh for a day or two (she'll be 5)

-One more (will update/edit soon)

I’ll add my goals as a(n) older fledgling pilot.

Take two local VFR trips with my wife and kids (both under 100 miles for a start) to get them comfortable with private air travel, maybe to visit family for a day trip and perhaps a weekend trip to a local resort that has a paved strip in Lake Geneva

Begin my instrument training

Obtain additional endorsements: tail wheel, HP, and complex

Attend Mooney Summit 2020

Have fun with my new ratings and continue learning the whole time.

I'm too old to become an airline pilot, even though I'm fully qualified to do it now.

My goal for 2020 is to get my IA so I can do annuals for fellow Mooney owners (and a few Pipers).

My retirement plan is to do annuals, ferry some planes and such. I may start getting my CFIs. Not having your CFI is really limiting when it comes to getting random flying jobs.

This is a great thread and prompted me to actually write down my goals last year.  Here's the goals for 2020.

  • Fly another 100 hrs.
  • Obtain instrument rating
  • Family vacation to visit family in California (set new distance record)
  • Formation Wing Card
  • Install engine monitor
  • Take picture of Junkman by St. Loius Arch

2019 Accomplishments

  • Flew 100 hrs (currently at 98.3, but the year's not over!)
  • Obtained mountain flying training
  • Attended Mooney Summit (new distance record)
  • Lead formation flight into Class C airport
  • Installed ADSB
  • Installed shoulder harnesses

2020 - FAA IR.

2019 - bought a plane, lost excuses to not fly.

The instrument rating truly transforms you into a better pilot and opens up the travel possibilities for your Mooney.  Cloud layer?  No problem.  Bad weather, alter your time of departure.

2018 - Instrument rating completed.

2019 - Airframe maintenance certificate completed.

2020 - Powerplant certificate, assuming thing go as planned.   Might also get a multi-engine rating as a continuing strategy to avoid having to do a BFR.  ;)

2021 - Wealth and splendor.

Actual goal for 2020: CPL

If goal met, then CFI - it all depends on when I manage to finish CPL

Other aspirations (not necessarily for 2020):

  • Multi/Commercial multi
  • Seaplane add-on
  • Wanted to try out aerobatics - just to be able to tell people I was inverted. On purpose. :-)

Inspired by recent answers to the post, I'd like to amend my 2020 goals to include:

  • Sun N Fun
  • OshKosh
  • Knock out at least 1, hopefully 2 trips on my wife's "places-I-want-to-go-in-the-mooney" list (maybe Utah + Nevada or Mount Rushmore, and Key West)
