  1. Possibly you could contact Mark Rouch, Top Gun. Mark did the mod on his F years ago..................He called the plane his F n J.
  2. You may receive a call from the FAA soon!!
  3. It’s good Mooney moved on from the name ….Mite !
  4. Whoops…. I’m incorrect. The tailpipe is off an O-360, not an IO-360. Sorry I couldn’t help you.
  5. PM me please. I have a tailpipe from my former Mooney IO-360 A1A. This might help you. I'd attache a photo, but MS says I can't! I'll email a photo of it to you once I learn your address. Mitch
  6. Congratulations! That will be so terrific seeing the new fresh paint. Looking forward to finished photos please.
  7. There were many times I would simply raise the plane on the jacks. Easy to do and provided plenty of room underneath for cleaning the belly. And with the Ovation, sometimes I'd just remove the one piece panels and clean them away from the fuselage. That was also fairly easy to accomplish without laying under the plane for extended periods
  8. This creeper discussion is very interesting indeed. However, and more importantly is possibly a device/system needed to lower and raise us older/geezer pilots off of and onto the creeper itself. Perhaps a new thread of videos showing how you [old farts, you know who you are] get up and down onto and off of your personal creeper!! Using the roll off method, and laying on your side, then making your way on your hands and knees, maybe a grab bar to elevate yourself vertically........with the slick, fast easy rolling of the Aerocreeper, does it go flying out from under you as you try to roll off?
  9. Suggestion to the Intuitive Machines engineer in-charge of activating the laser powered range finders switch prior to launch.................maybe don't ask for a letter of recommendation from your former employer during your new job search.
  10. If we do get photos taken from Odie, in its near horizontal position, maybe Anthony can rotate the photos 90 degrees or so.
  11. If all goes to plan, Intuitive Machines' Odysseus spacecraft will attempt a lunar landing Thursday afternoon, returning America to the moon's surface for the first time in 52 years. Flight controllers said Wednesday that the lander "continues to be in excellent health" ahead of a landing attempt planned for around 5:30 p.m. EST. A successful touchdown would make the Houston-based space company the first commercial enterprise to ever land a spacecraft on the moon. It would also be the first American moon landing since NASA's Apollo program came to an end in 1972.
  12. My favorite realistic [for me] low wing airplane................all my former Mooney's....................next on the list, P-51
  13. Tesla driver friends tell me that now with their DMV annual renewal fees, our glorious state has imposed an additional $500 fee. Did I ever mention I LOVE my climate here!!!
  14. Gee, I sure wish CA would use some of the gas tax money to fix the pot holes on my North and Southbound lanes of Highway 101 between Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo!! ...CalTrans patched a few after our big storms last year, but have neglected beyond that with new one popping up [or should I say in] daily. I've kinda become familiar to most of their locations, but at night sometimes they catch me by surprise................they just piss me off when I whack one!!!!! Silly me, I thought those big gas tax funds were to go for such things...........................
  15. $4.92 Oceano (L52), CA. That’s the least expensive in our central coast area. Least expensive auto fuel I see is $4.53.
  16. I should have clarified my environment comment was directed at weather conditions for the storage of my Mooney. Oceano airport is within couple of hundred yards from our beautiful Pacific Ocean. (We call it our little slice of paradise! ). The ocean environment is harsh. Most of the little hangars on the field are called Port-a-ports, I believe. Most are rust buckets with open joints and seems. Isn’t an environment I ever wanted to subject my beauty to. Too bad, cause our L52 is right close to home.
  17. SMX was my hangar location for financial reasons and the fact that there are mostly no environmentally friendly hangars at Oceano. I live about 1nm from L52 and hangout there from time to time. Yep, our local beach weather is just the best!! Next time give me a shout and I’ll take you to our little hole in the wall Chachos authentic Mexican yummy place. Happy Mooney flying!
  18. Ah, these kids……. “why can’t they be like we were, perfect in every way… what’s the matter with kids today?” On a positive side and as an example, these kids are building incredible space traveling devices, building and launching reusable rockets which send the modules (with humans) to the space station (I love those great looking space suits)! I recently flipped burgers at a local airport for the university aviation club. The club was compromised of aerospace, electrical, mechanical, chemistry (etc) engineering students. These young fine minds were quite impressive. Intellectually and socially. All is not lost folks !
  19. Saw you taxing out and departing L52 Sunday. Your D is spectacular! Have fun.
  20. Mike, you haven't mentioned tinting color? Clear, green, or smoke? Either choice, you are going to really enjoy the fresh new look.
  21. I'm surprised this hasn't happened yet!
  22. As I suspected.............lessons learned from Mooney, trying to protect dummies [like me] from running the battery down.
