I think I am confused. Jolie's post attachments seem to show the crash site was next to a road, but the earlier photos seem to show it was immediately adjacent to a runway. Not that it makes much difference to the poor occupants, but still confusing to me.

That's the runway in the background with all the emergency vehicles.

If anyone learns of the pilot's family contact info, please forward it to me so the Mooney Summit can reach out and offer assistance. Thanks

Tried zooming in on the pictures. Maybe N7830V?? Could be way off though.

That's a Mooney, a 64 M20E registered to someone in Ft. Laurderdale

I tried to make out the tail on one pic and could not.

I just finished changing the oil in my M20J. On a thorough inspection found a small exhaust leak on the exhaust clamp. Nothing serious but glad I found it and fixed it. Best time to inspect your engine is at oil change. I found that a high intensity flashlight is worth it. Engine surfaces are dark and can blend with cracks, oil leaks and chafing.

So sad to hear about this.  My son is in college there in Collegedale and I flew my Mooney in there a few months ago.  I was very proud of doing Austin to Collegedale non-stop in my C.  I also gave him and some of his friends a sightseeing flight around the area.

While the runway is almost 5000 ft. long, both ends slope towards the middle with tall trees on both ends and along one side. 21 slopes quite a bit more then 3. So being on speed is critical as the runway slopes away on landing.

Certainly not a difficult runway, but not much margin for error.

i couldn't agree more, it just seems in the last couple years there have been way to many of these. It's heart wrenching, I'm so glad my wife and friends don't read MS

It's not the easiest airport for sure. Local to me and it's had its share of accidents over the years. gxsrpilot, let me know when you are in town and maybe we can meet up. I am at KDNN now. If anyone knows the family, if I can help on this end let me know.

From a few witnesses, it appears it was still yet another take off accident.

The plane apparently belonged to Todd Silver, based at khwo. We don't know if Todd was in the plane or not. He may have posted here as Canopyman.

My wife Alice will be sending the survivors a letter via usps in a few days, offering them crisis intervention advice and financial assistance. She has had to write 6 of these already. Lets all really try to not make her write any more this year.

Tony A, if you learn of anything, give me a ring.

I think I met the pilot of this aircraft at a local EAA event -- very nice person who loved flying and was excited to speak with other Mooney pilots.  Very sad day to see this.

It is also sad to see apparently yet another near airport stall spin accident. My wife and I were just discussing this in connection with the recent Cirrus accident in Houston.  It seems clear that there needs to be a lot more training on this.

My heart and prayers go out to the family.

I agree..I read these discreetly when the other half is around. It's hard enough to get them to fly. Just awful and so sad.
