  1. My buddy just took his 182 over there for paint 10/22, I can get pireps from him thru the process if you would like them.
  2. A long body taking off with the trim in the full flap landing position is an urgent situation from the moment the tires depart the runway, as in the stall horn is on immediately. Like you said, it takes a very hard push and you have to recognize it is a trim issue and get the trim moving ASAP. I have done it twice in 13 years. Not out of the question with this accident. I’m saddened to hear of yet another accident.
  3. Actually it was noted, by me, above :-) I will watch the video but I’m guessing the tio540 may be somewhat different (harder) than a normally aspirated 4 cylinder.
  4. Lance sorry for the late reply. I found nothing pertaining to the oil report, although I’m not 100% on that.....we don’t think this would cause the report issues. I have had normal report since. What I did find in the screen was pieces of the rubber dampeners from one of the mags. I forget the exact name but dampens between the mag and engine gears. These rubber parts were heat hardened and the pieces I found were quite scary until I figured out what they were :-o On a good note it caused me to pull the mag (to replace isolator) and during that process, resetting the e-gap and then retiming solved my hot start issue that had starting creeping up. I looked for a picture of said part but haven’t located it yet.
  5. The fresh air on a Bravo is designed to flow some air 100% of the time. It’s been some years but I “think”* it may come from factory holes in the door that opens and closes. It’s designed to do that. Could that be changed, yes, would I do that....very carefully......maybe just make the holes smaller, less of a leak. That said, in cruise if you are dressed comfortably for a 65 degree day the heat should be more than adequate. If I have ever kept the heat wide open I don’t remember but it’s possible I guess. I don’t have a lot of flights at 23k, 24k in the past few years. My flights are typically 14k to 16k now days. *I believe back in the day I pulled the hose off because I thought the door wasn’t closing all the way. Not for lack of heat really but did not want the door operating incorrectly.

  8. Mine is 5/8" Easy out. Mother of crapping sob frikken .... oh never mind .... back in :-) Actually easy in too, but a pain to safety wire.
  9. I have seen folks use av gas in a garden sprayer. Today I was using av gas in a little spray bottle on my project. The picture of the oil pan shows very nicely where the oil screen goes in !!
  10. Make sure all the rocker cover screws are snug. If that gasket leaks, many times you can't tell it because the oil is running right past the baffle which is tight at the bottom of the rocker cover.
  11. Haha, thanks. I had seen some much larger. I do believe the Bravo is a pita, and that's why it isn't done every oil change..... until now I guess :-(
  12. I change the oil myself but usually just have my mechanic check the screen at annual. I just received my first suspect oil report in 13 years. While not horrible it is suspect because mine have always been excellent reports. I'm a little concerned now and first on the list is to see if the screen has any metal big enough to read the part numbers from (LOL). I believe it's a larger size socket and I don't keep them at my hangar so if someone knows it will save me from carrying a box full. Thanks
  13. I see the question occasionally, looking for the correct fitting. This is what I bought 13 years ago to make my own hose to refill my Bravo. Actually had a shop that does hydraulic hoses make it. I supplied this fitting and an old fitting for hooking to an oxygen tank (old cutting torch hoses) While going thru paper work the other day I found the sheet on the fitting I use and thought I would post in in hopes future searches can find the info.

  16. I have also had the connector come loose/disconnect near the switch.
  17. Glad you figured it out and made a safe landing. I have been landing on a lot of grass lately in another airplane and like everyone said...pavement is the way to go. I will as I'm sure everyone will be doing....checking those rods on our doors. Props.

  19. Yes, look at your baffles and seal around the oil cooler. Silicone every hole and seam you can find open from the rear sheet baffles to the baffles around the alternators. At your TIT and rpm/MP settings I think mine would be burning more fuel. I'm usually around 27/2400- 1600 TiT and 19.5 to 20Gph. Congrats on your purchase ! After 12 years I still love my TLS EVERY flight !

  22. What shop does Joey use ? Curious if it's the same shop that Gann uses (and I need to ask who that is) I am on here this morning searching because my 3 blade McCauley is slinging grease/oil. It was last overhauled in 2003 (Texas) at a cost of $2,760 New deice boots were $870 of that. I was looking for info I had read before that gave the reason for a reseal instead of an overhaul. I know engines but my prop experience is very limited. I'm not sure when the last time it was greased what I would call: the old grease was pushed out with fresh grease. If the grease was old, then it would tend to come out easier. Going to go back and read above what someone said about a McCauley and fittings...if any ? Edit: I see where Cody said McCauley has less grease. But does it have zerks or places to install them to service ? Do they have to be shipped assembled...... As in could it go to Cody ?
  23. Looks like we may have high winds in Dalton Ga KDNN but I have several bedrooms and I believe one hangar if anyone is in need. I'm at the triple tree fly-in (South Carolina) but back home tomorrow. I wish everyone the best of luck.
