You know how they say there’s no free lunch? Well I have discovered the magic formula:

1) Own a Mooney

2) Be friends with @carusoam

3) Fly said Mooney to the last corner of the Earth: 47N Central Jersey

And enjoy a personal tour of the middle of nowhere, Manville NJ, as well as a top notch cheesesteak at a local BBQ place. Talk about Mooney’s and the good old days.

Yes, I met Anthony so I think that kind of makes me famous too. B)

I did that once, over that way for a job interview. Anthony drive me to breakfast. Never thought that Princeton is "the middle of nowhere"! It looked pretty developed and busy to me.

If you or @carusoam are ever down this way (1:10 in my C due north of KECB), I'll show you the real middle of nowhere. With or without lunch. :D

Wow, Manville, huh?  I used to live around there, before my Mooney days.  Would love to fly back there for a visit.  Maybe I'll be lucky enough to meet Anthony next time I fly back there.

I was based at 47N for several years when I owned my Cherokee 180. Wonderful airport with having the cheapest fuel around, but always a line with the cheapest fuel around.  Had a thriving glider club when I was there and I learned to fly instrument from John Price who was such an awesome old school instructor with a museum quality Aeronca L3 “grasshopper”.  Good memories, but it wouldn’t be until almost 10 years later before I met @carusoam at Oshkosh three years ago once I was a Mooney owner.

One time he didn’t make a single post on Mooneyspace for a whole day. We had to send someone by his house just to make sure he’s ok!

Ahh, the mild mannered Anthony. Just like Clark Kent @carusoam has an alter ego. Here is the glimpse I caught of him in Panama City Beach. The same way he appears when posting. Able to read through long threads in a single sitting, flys faster than a speeding J model,  more diplomatic than a royal prince. He speaks truth, seeks justice and promotes the Kerrville way.

Thank you Gents!

1) The day keeps getting better and better…

2) 201er called and asked if I was going to be hungry….

3) That was a pretty easy question to answer…

4) Mooneys are incredibly fast…

5) I had to bolt out of the house to drive to the other side of town…

6) I got to the airport about 10 minutes before Mikey did…

7) Don’t race a Mooney with your kid’s car…

Sooooo….

When we have a NJ Mooney Fly-in…

Can I recommend this place…

It’s perfect for Meatatarians…. (People that only eat meat… it takes a commitment…)

You’d have to rent a bus

And I dunno if you can afford to buy that many lunches!

Now….

about that 201 behind us…

This is what a new Mooney M20J looks like when it leaves the factory in 2022…

Everything has been updated to perfection… from the inside to the outside….

Mikey mentioned some speed numbers to go with that…

We’ll be looking for the data….   :)

Caution note for the new guys… this Mooney flying thing can be mildly addictive..!

GrubHut has a van…. I can make arrangements with the owner… we go way back…

For anyone not familiar with Manville….

It IS that Manville… home of the Johns Manville corp… NY got the Love Canal… we got the asbestos insulation manufacturing site…

All cleaned up and paved over… the site is currently used for industrial automobile auctions…. The kind that handles the trade-ins of all the car retailers…

1) Appearances can be deceiving (I imagined Anthony looking like an old wise man, he looks like a Mooney driver)

2) cheesesteak and BBQ can add a few pounds the camera hides

3) Mooney’s are fast, even sitting still

4) Jealous because I need a good cheesesteak(they don’t exist in Illinois)

PP thoughts only, just a lurker, not an owner
