Nukemzzz Posted January 2, 2021 Report Posted January 2, 2021 So I took like half of the plane apart and put it back together and only ended up loosing one (two really) part. It’s the O-shit handle strap ends for above the copilot panel on the ceiling. I think they are the same as the door handle (aluminum caps). I’m going to get another leather trap made to match the door panel but like these end caps Anyone have any of these laying around collecting dust? Quote
RLCarter Posted January 2, 2021 Report Posted January 2, 2021 My E doesn’t have an O-Shit handle.... not if that’s a good thing or not... 1 Quote
carusoam Posted January 2, 2021 Report Posted January 2, 2021 Send the pic to Dan at Lasar... Or see if @Alan Fox has them... -a- Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted January 2, 2021 Report Posted January 2, 2021 Yeah, you don’t want To lose those, you can just use finish washers until the new ones show up. Have you looked Everywhere? They are somewhere. 1 Quote
Jim Peace Posted January 2, 2021 Report Posted January 2, 2021 There was a thread on here recently about someone having extra 1 Quote
Prior owner Posted January 2, 2021 Report Posted January 2, 2021 Lowen would probably have them.. 1 Quote
Ron McBride Posted January 2, 2021 Report Posted January 2, 2021 Or take it to a local, upholstery shop. 1 Quote
Igor_U Posted January 2, 2021 Report Posted January 2, 2021 If I look hard, I might still have an website of a place that sells the for $3000 a piece. Stupid price!! I used finishing washers until I bought a couple from Jerry Pressley on MS. Good luck Quote
Alan Fox Posted January 2, 2021 Report Posted January 2, 2021 I have a handle with both washers , 40 shipped domestically 2 Quote

Looks good and lasts for years. As for the aluminum cover piece, that's probably the easiest Mooney part to fabricate yourself. Worth a try. 2 Quote
M20F-1968 Posted January 5, 2021 Report Posted January 5, 2021 I used a leather belt for strength, wrapped in in the same leather as the seats (Hand sewn along one side) and machined a new set (lathe and milling machine to make a real slot that fits the belt) and now have parts that look like they were made for the application with a real handle that will not break. M20F-1968 Posted January 5, 2021 Report Posted January 5, 2021 Also, O took some ABS plastic and made about a 2" circle, and ground the back to fit the contour of the interior panel and so the aluminum end has a flat space to sit on. John Breda 1 Quote
Yetti Posted January 5, 2021 Report Posted January 5, 2021 (edited) It is a big chunk of alum. Spin it out on lathe. Mill relief for strap. File and finish. Paint as desired. since you fired up the mill it would be cool to add a camera mount. So thread for 1/4" 20 threads Edited January 5, 2021 by Yetti Quote

I have two woodlathes in my basement that could probably make these from aluminum using my wood gouges. And there are several metal lathes here at work . . . . Finding someone near you with access shouldn't be terribly difficult. Quote
EricJ Posted January 5, 2021 Report Posted January 5, 2021 I don't think you need a lathe for that. Tape a stack of dimes together, put a washcloth over them, and tap out the shape with a ball-peen hammer from a little piece of aluminum. Some time with a drill and a couple of files to finish it. Many people have those kinds of basic tools around, and scrap aluminum pieces are not hard to obtain or practice with. Quote
Nukemzzz Posted January 5, 2021 Author Report Posted January 5, 2021 Alan has the set for $40 and Lasar has new ones for $25.... if it takes longer than 15 minutes to make new ones its cheaper for me to buy them. Time is money! lol 3 Quote
MARZ Posted January 6, 2021 Report Posted January 6, 2021 google "handle end caps" a lot of options out there - not exact matches but better than fender washers! Quote

Chunk of alum. drill the center hole. put a bolt in it. Chuck it in a drill. file to your hearts content. Will there is aways. Think billet not decorative. Quote
