  1. Thanks, that would be helpful. I did get a #2007-1 seal because I'd read that it was the same part. It isn't.
  2. Happy New Year, everyone! Does anyone know where I could get a #1551 servo seal for the retractable step? Mine currently has a hole in it. I've tried Mooney, Brittain, and Preferred Air Part without success. I understand there are electrical replacement servos available, but I'd really prefer just to get my current servo functional. Thanks, Michael
  3. I'll measure my mixture cable when it comes out and post the information. Is it common for an inspector to be more willing (or willing at all) when provided with a previous field approval? If that's the case I think it would be very useful if we could post field approvals to a central location such as the Gallery/Downloads for others to use.
  4. Anything you can do is appreciated, Mike. I think I'm grounded until I get a new cable. That linked message is interesting - something to keep in mind. Thanks Michael
  5. Mike, thanks for the information. ACS looks like the most affordable solution, but my shop owner isn't sure he can get field approval. However, he says it would be easy to get if I had a copy of someone else's field approval. I'd be very grateful if you could please send me a copy of yours - would you mind? I agree that this is a goofy way of doing things, but I guess that's the FAA we've been dealt. Cheers Michael
  6. I've been told that it's possible to bend (or "tweak" with a hammer) the latch release down to make accidental release harder. However, you'd want to ensure it doesn't make intentional release difficult. I've just gotten better at avoiding the latch when swinging the j bar. Michael
  7. Can anyone suggest a source for a new replacement mixture cable? I'm told a factory one is $400. McFarlane doesn't have an off the shelf replacement, but can "build to match", $200+ and a field approval / 337 is then needed. Thanks Michael
  8. Welcome to A2! I have the blue & white Mooney N435DB tied down in front of the terminal building. It's more than a $100 hamburger, but has anyone mentioned Mackinac island? Who have you used for maintenance so far?
  9. The other warning sign is that the seller has zero feedback. If they think it's a scam, Ebay should kill this and the seller's other auction, which seems to also be aiming for $3000. They won't.
  10. Thanks for all the info & suggestions so far. As I recall, the current black stuff is still sticky, like some sort of putty. Does anyone know what the Mooney manual specifies? I used to have a e-copy of that, but I currently don't have access to the computer it's stored on. Michael
  11. A previous owner of my M20E used some nasty black sealant (RTV silicone?) for the 2 access panels at the base of the windshield. This stuff got onto the cabin cover, and then back onto the panels & cowling. I'm going to be replacing the cabin cover and I want to reseal the panels with something that isn't going to make another mess. What is the spec requirement for sealing these panels, and which sealant has worked well for you? Is there anyway to check that you've sealed the panels adaquately, other that putting enough on to see it ooze out everywhere? Any suggestions on what to use to completely remove the black marks on the white paint? I don't think it's going to come off with any ordinary cleaners or soaps. Thanks! Michael
  12. Thanks to everyone for their recommendations. I'll check those shops. Are there any other owner members near A2? Where do you get your annuals done? Thanks Michael
  13. I've recently relocated to Ann Arbor Michigan, and I'm wondering what local shops you'd recommend to do an Mooney annual. My current shop is now about 4 1/2 hours away so I'm not looking for anything further away. I know there is a MSC in Lapeer, but I'm not inclined to go someplace just because it's a MSC. Thanks! Michael
  14. I've been using my Northstar M3 GPS for situation awareness in VFR during my IFR training (in my M20E), until last weekend when the display would not fire up. I definitely would like to have it functional again. Does anyone out here have a functional M3 that they want to get rid of, or know where one is available for a reasonable cost? Please contact me at silverredshark@yahoo.ca Thanks Michael Columbus, OH
