RLCarter Posted July 13, 2019 Report Posted July 13, 2019 AN526-632R5 (6-32 machine screw x 5/16) is what's in my E Quote
Hank Posted July 14, 2019 Report Posted July 14, 2019 @M20F, that's the same screw I have in my C. Not only do neither LASAR nor Great Lakes have them, but LASAR claimed they are aftermarket. It wasn't until sevetal months later that I saw my parts manual shows the one screw, while LASAR insists there should be two small screws per side. A friend had two brass screws left over from making a holster thst screw together similarly. I had to shorten the screw some tomfit, but it works fine. Looks a little funny with ine aluminum unut and one brass one, but who looks that closely anyway? I can check the Parts book tomorrow if you still need the number . . . . But it may not be available. Hank Posted July 14, 2019 Report Posted July 14, 2019 Just now, carusoam said: Expect GLAP might have them... the window people... Best regards, -a- Nope. Like LASAR, they insist that all Mooneys have 2 tiny screws rather than a single larger one. Quote
gsxrpilot Posted July 14, 2019 Report Posted July 14, 2019 I bought mine on the aviation isle at HomeDepot. 2 1 Quote
PT20J Posted July 14, 2019 Report Posted July 14, 2019 (edited) According to my M20J IPC, the screw is a standard 6-32 MS24693-523. The nut is a Mooney part 914071-005. LASAR website lists that part at $45.69 ea. There is also a 7615 washer $0.10. Skip Edited July 14, 2019 by PT20J Quote

M20F Posted July 14, 2019 Author Report Posted July 14, 2019 I got a PM from a Canook A&P who had the solution. Thanks for all the replies. Quote
larryb Posted July 15, 2019 Report Posted July 15, 2019 I just used standard cad plated MS aviation hardware with the locknut on inside. Not quite as pretty but available and functional. Quote

N201MKTurbo Posted December 20, 2022 Report Posted December 20, 2022 These may work. You could use the nut on the outside and an oval head with a finish washer on the inside. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/cowlsealhardware5.php Quote
Hank Posted December 21, 2022 Report Posted December 21, 2022 These work just fine. Newer planes use four small ones, my 1970 C uses must two larger ones (even though Dan at LASAR insisted that it must be missing replacement window, it matches the IPC with two screws). 1 Quote
good2eat Posted December 21, 2022 Report Posted December 21, 2022 Our local Ace hardware had them. Worked perfectly - under $2.00 Quote

Guest Posted December 22, 2022 Report Posted December 22, 2022 If I recall it is a tubular nut with a countersunk slotted head made of brass. It’s meant to fit in a countersunk trim washer. I might have a few in my junk drawer in my tool box. Quote
A64Pilot Posted December 25, 2022 Report Posted December 25, 2022 I haven’t looked, but wouldn’t sex bolts work? Quote
DCarlton Posted December 25, 2022 Report Posted December 25, 2022 Perhaps a choice here under "Binding Barrels and Screws"... https://www.mcmaster.com/nuts/ Quote

EricJ Posted December 25, 2022 Report Posted December 25, 2022 Whenever I see this thread pop up in the "Recent Topics" window I think it says, "Storm Window Screens", and I think, "It's about time somebody invented that for airplanes..." 1 Quote
