I thought I'd start a thread on what topic or topics discussed on MS deserve the title of "Topic of the Year 2014!"

Let the discussion and voting begin!!

Timmy is that poor little kid who asked an innocent simple little question.

Little did he know what he was in for!!!

He has since gone bazerks and will never ask a question like that again!!

I would say it was Mooney down in Indiana, sadly we lost one of our own but the story of Mikes recovery was heart warming to say the least. It seemed like we had quite a few GA fatalities this year and many were discussed on MS when the NTSB or FAA publishes the stats for the year we will see where we stand. The reports of accidents really hit home for all of us and the best thing is to learn from each one.

My vote is "Here's to the mother#%*^ing FAA". Title notwithstanding, I thought it brought to light an issue of an overreaching exercise of power by a group that we ALL need to be very aware of.

I thought it would surely need to include LOP/ROP, Camguard, flap usage, grass fields, SEL night IMC flight and mutt muffs . . .

Seriously, mark my vote for Mooney Down in Indiana. It's a sad story with far-reaching effects, but at least we have Mike still here, and he can provide unique insight into what happened. His story is one of triumph. I'm waiting for the official report, and hope to hear Mike's full story afterwards.

The real story will be the one of setting up the Bill Gilliland Foundation to provide emergency therapy and funds to downed pilot's families. We are working towards that now, and I assure you, I have witnessed the need in GA for this. Jolie and my wife, both therapist, are involved. Stay tuned...

I think if we believe that MooneySpace is best described as a place for Mooney pilots and owners to learn, save money, avoid mistakes and find solutions to ownership problems, then I have to say the "Here's to the Mother F'in FAA" thread is topic of the year. Lots of good lessons in there as well as solutions.
