  1. Anyone interested in Electroair Mag Conversion here is letter from supplier Smooth Power LLC and whats involved : Yes, Electroair now has a solution for the single drive Bendix dual magneto. The old magneto gets removed and actually returned to Electroair as there is a $1,000.00 core charge which you will get back when they receive it. Electroair wants to get these magnetos off the market. The equipment consists of the EIS-42000DM which is actually two ignition kits, an EIS-41000 and an EIS-41000IC. One kit used a crankshaft trigger wheel to produce the timing signal and the other kit used what we call a mag timing housing, replaces the old magneto, to create the timing signal. The kits also include two controllers, brain boxes, and two large inductive coils, spark plug wires and hardware and the master wiring harness. In addition you will also need the EA-23000 ignition switch panel in either the horizontal or vertical configuration. This switch replaces your current rotary key switch which will not work well with the Electroair ignition. You will also need the EA-26000-(12 or24) battery condition panel which is how you the operator knows what is going on with your ignition systems and battery before, during and after flight. You will also need eight high energy spark plugs, unless you have either 37BY or 40s or 38S plugs installed. These are the only standard spark plugs that can potentially have the electrode gaps opened up enough for the high energy ignition. Electroair does have their own line of high energy spark plugs which are manufactured to their specifications by Tempest. Last but not least you will need either a backup battery system, which we also distribute, which is produced by TCW Technologies. There have been a couple of folks who have received field approvals on the M20J to install the B&C Specialties standy by alternators. We do not distribute the alternators.   2. I do not have hardly any facts but i just called Surefly and she asked what engine(IO-360-A3-B3D) and she says their system wont work because its a "single drive duel mag" system.   3. 02-2019 I was able to order one from Bendix King(my shop did as they are a Bendix King "dealer" Bendix Phone -->855-250-7027 Wanted to make sure i posted where and how i got part 088-01991-0004 called Switch Cap Assembly.
  4. My GI-275 and GTN750xi will fly a ILS glide slope as well as GPS full approaches with procedure turns, DME Arcs etc and Glideslopes. I would assume it do the same with a King HSI but not sure. In this image the KAP150 AP is flying the GPS glide slope in Approach Mode in HYW. It does not fly descents from say one way point to another as far as i can tell like the Garmin AP will,

  7. My AP is a KAP150, does not have a Go around feature(as far as i know anyway)

  10. Mine just does not have the CDI enabled and I am trying to figure out why and what utility i may be missing. I have not heard back from shop yet and will have to call in i guess. I was hoping someone that uses the CDI key would be able to enlighten us.

This guy(Bob at Aero Lab Aviation is supposed to be really good at overhauling and does them quickly as there are not as many these days, i was quoted good price, ended up installing a GI275 but he came highly recommended.   12. Using the PC Garmin Trainer Software download (does not have a gi275) but shows CDI enabled and seems to function to effect a VLOC on the GPS and Digital EFIS when pushed. I do not remember my GTN ever switching to VLOC mode in the GPS but need to check the Autoswitch setting and watch when flying into switching range. See screen print, loaded only ILS 18 approach to KMYR. Flight plan KHYW - KMYR
  13. Mark can you help me/us understand what the GPS is doing when it is switched into VLOC mode when pressing the CDI key(my GTN750 does not display CDI Key). How is the Autopilot tracking the ILS glide slope (I did have GPS Tuned to ILS Freq in NAV1 on GTN) My GI-275 was in LOC Mode in green and the Autopilot captured the Glideslope although the GPS was displaying GPS mode. What benefit does the CDI provide on the GPS? Im sure what i am asking is clear as mud the way i am describing this. Anyone?
  14. great info guys, i am hoping my installer can help me understand what we need to do. I do not see much conversations or discussions on ILS, VOR approach procedures with these avionics. What a great resource we have here on web/mooneyspace. Still learning and working through this. Hopefully the info can help others as well in the future trying understand the issue. Any info i get i will post. thanks everyone. Garmin Pilot ops could not answer this question but they are not an "install" information resource.
  15. Yeah thats what i was thinking and not sure why the CDI key is not there, I flew approach yesterday and it captured the Glide Slope flew me down. But the GPS remained in GPS Mode.
  16. thanks, Configuration Mode probably means installer/dealer can only set it I assume, can you think of any reason why they would not have enabled? Forgot? I have an email in to them.
  17. My GTN 750xi does not have a CDI Key that toggles between Navigation Sources. I have two GI-275's and can click CDI key on the GI275 HSI but the GPS remains in GPS Mode. My paper install manual filled out by installer has check mark on CDI Key enabled. Most videos I see seem to have them on and working changing annunicator to VLOC in green on GPS. Wondering if anyone understands how that works? Thanks
  18. I was looking for these 2 weeks ago and was able to find only one. Called Rochester and they said Only Mooney can buy them. After speaking with several shops what i found was Mooney does not want sell just the dial anymore. One guy said you have to send the entire unit and have it overhauled/calibrated and then they can provide/install a new dial. One Mooney Service Center said that Air Parts of Lockhaven does that.   19. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i use the Garmin inReach mini and you can send and receive texts through your phone. You can share your track for people on the ground as well and SOS. I have the lowest cost plan like $14/month, limited free text but per text cost not expensive if you go over.
