Must be nice to enjoy social isolation for so long!!

It’s that I think what’s being taught is at best ridiculous and I think could possibly be considered mental illness in the extreme cases, most I think is just idiots that desire attention, like the idiot who faked an engine failure and jumped out of the Taylorcraft. I don’t let it upset me, I just ignore it. I am a little concerned that for reasons I cant understand we are catering to these people, but accept the fact that I’m old, it’s time to pass the baton onto the younger generation and let them decide.

I’m 64 by the way so I’m not geriatric, but I’m not the guy I was at 30.

I call mine, "the Mooney" because...that says it all.

Me too. Or "the plane."

Haven't even named the last several cars . . . .

Wife named her Birdy

My mom always thought Byrdie would be a cute name for a (non-avian) pet.

When I first picked up the plane from IL, the CFI and I couldn't figure out how to turn off Sirius XM (which apparently still had a subscription for music). I had only trained with a 6-pack and very old GPS, same for my CFI. At the time, this had a G500, two 430's, and a 696. Might as well have been a spaceship for me. I watched a lot of videos on the G500 and 430's, but had never played with them really. My instructor knew about the 430's but nothing else.

The transition instructor and I were on the ground talking about all the varying aspects of the flows, and we got quiet for a second. Kenny Chesney came on, and he would talk about all these songs he loved, with such (weird) passion, and then it would play. At the time, it was mainly country love songs. Neither of us could figure out how to mute it or stop it, so we just let it be for now.

We did one fast taxi, found some issues, and came back to the FBO and reported some airworthiness issues, one being Kenny Chesney. She said she couldn't fix Kenny, and wouldn't even if she could.

Next day, we took off back to Phoenix. We tried multiple times to find out where on the g500 we'd turn off the XM, or even turn it down, but we never found it. So, Kenny Chesney for the entire flight home. We'd just make conversation since it'd mute when we talked.

Next day, instructor immediately found it on the 696, and muted it. I told my wife and she won't let me name the plane anything else but Kenny. Having watched  South Park as a kid, I'd say it's a bit of a bad omen.. but at least Kenny comes back every episode.

My '68 C got its airworthiness certificate December 1967. The Graduate came out in theaters that week.  I named her Ms. Robinson because she's the older woman in my life.

I had no name for mine for the first ten years of ownership.  Then my wife started calling her “Baby.”
Ok - but she picked it. For me, the girl is Baby, not the airplane, but I will not argue with her on this.

My current J is “SpeedBird” (colours mainly that radio callsign is reserved to British Airways), my previous J was “TheBluePeril” (nickname from my gliding club, I think they did not appreciate the noise levels on my visits)

Previous owner called mine “keeper “. Not sure of the origin.

Naturally my wife just calls her Foxtrot.

I thought about re-registering mine with an "Alpha Romeo" number, but it seemed a little over the top.

Mine is Trillian! I dream someday of taking Zooey Deschanel for a ride which would make the name permanent forever!

My wife named the airplane "Luna" because it's a "Mooney." As long as the wife is onboard with owning an airplane she get's to name it whatever she wants.
