  1. You may be able to get a hangar quickly at Shanno KEZF. KEZF has an experienced Mooney mechanic on the field and a couple of good Mooney instructors and a few Mooney owners are based out of there. I know the distance and traffic are tough, but it will have you outside of the SFRA as well.
  2. Was that Goldfinger appearing briefly?
  3. I did the same. I am now at late January to early February. It will go back around on me soon.
  4. Me too! I had the same question. So, this will effectively be an E with speed mods once someone brings her back to life.
  5. Don, I thought the original engines were produced by Volvo. My Dad had one back in the day and my brother still has one.
  6. It certainly seems like a fair price for a well-maintained Mooney. Good luck with the sale.
  7. I am also at KEZF Shannon. Try Dave Cramer. He works on several Mooney's on our field including my C model, a J and an F model. He just started working full time at Shannon. He is very knowledgeable and does great work. Additionally, Jet Drive (Byron) works on Mooney's up in Gaithersburg and owns a very nice 201.
  8. I believe a hangar pays for itself with reduced maintenance costs. I am in VA and like being able to plug in my block heater and have my Mooney ready to go. Wisconsin winters are tough.
  9. I keep the traveljohn on board, but my wife has never used them. So far it has not been a problem, but she plans ahead and limits her fluids. I try to plan my flights strategically (like we all do) with stops for cheap fuel and ideally on field restaurant option. This thread makes me think I don;t need the gallon option for fuel bladders for my 1974 C model.
  10. You may want to edit header. I thought you were looking for houses.
  11. Nice looking C. I own a 1974 C with electric gear and flaps. I love it.
  12. I find my new Corvette much harder to get in an out of then my Mooney. No issue yet at 60
  13. Purchasing an older aircraft is a big risk even with a good pre-buy inspection. I have been lucky. I actually picked an aircraft that has always been flown regularly and bough it after it had been repaired properly from a gear up landing. My goal was finding a high-quality hangar kept airplane flown at least weekly. I do realize that i was lucky and you don't know what you don't know, and surprises can happen. I have 5 years under my belt with it now and only expected repairs and reasonable annual inspections. I have participated in an owner assist annual which was a great learning experience. When fixed you will have a great plane.
  14. Great analysis! Thanks for posting.
  15. I have a 1974 C which has the same dimensions. Mine has some upgrades, but would give you a good view of the interior size and fit for you.
  16. Well done! I am glad you and your family are all safe. It must have been scary especially in IMC.
  17. A Mooney C is a great choice. I found mine 5 years ago for under your budget, but did add some avionic upgrades and new interior so now I am in for just over your budget.
  18. My prayers go out to the families and friends of the pilots that lost their lives. I am glad you family is ok. As much as we love our Mooney's they can always be replaced.
  19. Mine was called "Freedom" when we bought her so we kept it. I did name my golden retriever Ranger.
  20. I have a 1974 C model. My alternate static source is under the panel on the pilot side with a valve. It is best to look for it on the ground and feel for it in the air.
  21. I had a recent epiphany. I had been taking my oil samples for analysis wrong. Instead of capturing my oil sample from the middle of my drain, I had been taking it from the beginning, resulting in a higher indication of metals. Since correcting my procedure my 1,300 hour engine is behaving much better. I am sharing in the hope of helping others avoid my error.
  22. Jimmy Garrison put together a great Mooney Value guide. I suggest referring to it. He has pluses and minuses for condition and avionics. I suspect you are looking at a little over $100K in market value. Good luck with sale.
