  1. There is the world you and I would like to live in. A world where an accident is not confused with a deliberate ommission and breaking of rules/laws resulting in punishment. A world where deliberate breaking of the law has negative consequence. A world where society does not pick up the tab for "transgressions". That world is no more. THIS world will see the continued discontinuation of insurance and closing of business and hobbies that many enjoy legally and safely...you know because equity. Merit is so yesterday. Playing by the rules? Tut tut. Hold my beer.
  2. LOL. Completely misread that Hank. To much report writing today. My mistake. Glad you are a user of the light too. Scott
  3. The original Parmetheous go on sale for abot $100 bucks on Ebay often. That is how I obtained mine.
  4. With the lifespan of LED why not have it on all the time as a recognition aide?
  5. Indeed. Carry on. Good luck with your sale.
  6. i had both and only used Accu-Flite heading bug. Worked fantastic. You could compensate for wind drift with it. Being able to quickly dial in a heading from ATC, or to program a heading that kept you out of weather was a common requirement that the Accu-Flite performed well. Of course you could see the "magenta line" and set the bug to follow it. I fly out/into Class C airspace and being given headings is common for me so I prefer to the AccuTrak.
  7. I have the same issue, that I have NOT yet looked at as it is having panel upgrades that have resulted in plane being down for eight+ weeks. Home stretch and then in for first annual. Looking forward to getting plane back in the air. This thread will likely help me resolve my blast furnace. Thanks Ross. I fly multiple multi hour flights with this going on...
  8. Indeed. Carry on. Good luck in your hunt.
  9. That is a pretty big number for an F that has an engine <100hours to major and a prop well over TBO. Understand you can ask any amount for anything that is for sale. Curious how you came upon that sale price? Original poster for a datapoint I purchased an M20E with approx 3000 hours on airframe, 400 hours on engine overhauled by lycoming in 2019 to new limts. Prop has 500. My buy in was in area of this ask. Paint and interior are a lot less than an engine, prop and avionics...
  10. I had the OEM towbar slip out once while pulling and turning. That I didn't injure myself was sheer luck as I went down fast and hard. The Bogert can NOT come out. Peace of mind and no emergency room bills....Priceless.
  11. The Bogart Towbar is flawless. It stays connected when you need it and it "retracts" into a very compact lightweight bar when you travel. The padded double handle is simple, but elegant. This bar is pricey, but it is just flat out awesome in form and function. I LOVE MINE and wish I had gotten one WAY earlier than I did.
  12. What a beautifully equipped M20E! You will miss her Good luck with your sale. As configured that is NOT overpriced.
  13. LED landing lights are another example of silliness. Better light. Less heat. Less energy draw.
  14. On my first E model I bought STC and asked my IA to rotate. He said “somebody already did it”, but I submitted paperwork…sigh (caliper swap)
  15. How many Sabre cowls have been completed? Is this a legit option? Certainly helps J prices stay strong by not having options to upgrade vintage cowls. That is a good thing.
  16. This is where certified becomes a bummer. It’s a shame that the stc is caught up in the legal system and Vintage Mooney owners and those that profit from installation expertise suffer. Not much you can do. I bought with conversion (337) and the mod was a strong plus column check mark.
  17. Learned something today. That's a good day. To original poster: Are there signs? If no this likely needs to happen with a city ordinance. This would be a liability exposure as while exposure is clearly obvious to pilots it is NOT to lay general public. Perhaps city could also identify a preferred area to get steps in that doesn't ahve aircraft exposure?
  18. Original poster forgot beautiful in addition to small and quiet. Adjective describes both Twisp Municipal and Metho Valley. Both of these airports seem to be outside city limits. Is there just a shortage of paved snow, mud, clear walking areas in the area in the Spring? I can understand that. The runways and taxiways are cleared and so "available" for spring fever sunny days? This is the land of big wide open spaces and rural scenic beauty...clearly based on photos. You hate to use county resources to handle something like this, but an incident could certainly happen and a taxiway/runway is no place for non-plane related operations. I came close to shutting down when there were many ultra lites on an Arkansas field (no notam) when I arrived after a two hour flight. As I taxied into ramp/tie down area there were a LOT of people hanging around on ramp. A child, (young boy <5) was walking toward me (about 50' away) unattended. I came to a stop with hand on mixture...about three seconds later an adult came and grabbed him. He was clueless to the danger of course. I wish you well in getting a handle on this. A civil discussion likely won't help, but likely wouldn't hurt either? I have an ongoing challenge with my dogs in a county (somewhat secluded park). When entry gate is closed (seasonal during winter) you can walk in. I have two pointers and this is a great area to excercise them daily. I have E collars and dogs are trained to return to heel when they encounter others. Majority of other pet owners don't have control of their dogs and they run over with hackles up and aggressing. nobody wins if a dog fight ensues. What to do? I go a couple hundred yards away from parking and enter at an alternative fence opening. STILL others dogs will launch running a couple hundred yards...owners yelling and maybe, maybe not coming over to get their dogs. Eventually their or my dog are going to do something...two bites and your dog is euthenized. Even when you try not to be that guy others out of ignorance or live free, what can happen inattention will eventually eliminate dogs from being allowed in the valley. Freedom is great until someone elses results in your having a problem. Humans. (shrug)
  19. I was apparently under the false impression that post 9/11 there were fences and signage at airports. Every airport I have been to has had a fence and signage. This includes non-towered small municipal airports. There have not been issues (except wildlife) regarding entry and "use" by general public for walking because the airport manager would be on this aggressively for the safety and security of all. Local law enforcement or municipal elected representatives were rungs (plural) up the chain of contacts to end the issue? I still believe that this can NOT be legitimate and is some kind of a joke. If real it's about as funny as a case of polio.
  20. If an audible alert system installed ($700ish and provides a verbal "Check Gear" tied to gear horn/mp & "Stall, Stall" tied to stall horn with approaching stall) you hear the alerts through your headset. In the event of a stall horn alert with door open wind noise the alert in the headset allows you to react and perhaps intervene and prevent an expensive or perhaps catastrophic event.
  21. Why not? You still have overhead vent. This worked great in the winter for me. There was zero issue in removing them in the spring. I had enough cold air coming throgh the eyeball at knee level that "the fix" was easy and expediant. Cheap and easy are relative. If there is a "danger from using a sponge" I am all ears...
  22. Well shoot. Unfortunately because of the footprint of the Aera 795, my plan to panel mount on co-pilot side (primarily for use by my co-pilot wife) is NOT going to happen. I have it listed on Ebay right now if anyone is in the market. I have the perfect footprint area already cut for a 660 with Air Gizmo so THAT will be plan "B".
