Does anyone know if it’s possible or who would perform an addition of a built in O2 system to a bird that that doesn’t have one?

Many things are possible with the application of a sufficient stack of AMU’s….

https://www.mhoxygen.com/product-category/built-in/

youd need some parts from Mooney, maybe.

https://preciseflight.com/product/built-in-oxygen-system-for-mooney/

I would love to switch out to the precise flight control, but not for 8+ AMU’s

You don’t have to switch out your system. I’m pretty sure all the acclaims have altitude adjusting regulators and the conservers will work with your system, just have to change the connector to a Scott.

It’s the actuator switch I want; I’m not a fan of the bicycle brake twisty one that was standard when mine was made.  The remote, electric one seems like a better “do”.

when mine broke this year, it was something crazy like 10 hours of labor to replace and lube the new one.

I have a 1968 F model, with a full retrofitted Ovation interior, and the Ovation Oxygen system installed.  I downgraded the O2 tank to 50 gallons to save weight, rewrote the POH chapter using Cessna data of the 50 cubic foot bottle, and submitted it to the FAA for approval.  All can be done, just takes time and money.

Mountain High, and I think Aviox, have the parts to install a built in system.

I wish Mountain High had a panel mount O2D2

This is a longshot but I wonder if the Kerrville factory might be able (and willing) to perform a retrofit of one of the original oxygen drawings for the airplane. Drawings 870007 and 870029 flight manual supplement (attached) applies to J/K/L/S models.  Not sure which model you have. And, not sure how much labor and parts might be. Would likely exceed the Precise Flight O2 mod unless it was a straightforward install.

It’s a simple collection of parts…

With a horrendous amount of installation…

Expect it to be super expensive, and be done by a super qualified shop…

The hardest part is probably installing the filler parts in the fuselage sheet metal….

See if you can get a discount price for two…. :)

I did it in my Seneca before repainting.  Found an airplane with the correct parts, installed the filler door and shelf, along with the fuselage doublers.  Don't like the OEM push pull cable for on/off, but what can you do.

The mountain high system is better, but once you start deviating from the factory design, the paperwork gets more difficult.

As an option have you looked into a Gen5 oxygen concentrator? They are tested up to 18k for 2 people and you wouldn’t have to worry about refills.

We bought an Inogen G5 and love it. I have a 12V outlet in the baggage area and just plug it in back there. With it plugged in we keep it at the highest setting, both of us on it and at 11,000' my sats are still at 98-99.

Bought from Main Clinic Supply, all they need is a copy of your pilot license.

See a happy customer. If I didn’t already have O2 installed I would get one of those. Still might if refills get too expensive in the future.

When I started looking at prices to put a system in the plane I just kept coming back to the Inogen and that there are no refills to worry about or installation. I almost never buy the extended warranty on something, but theirs covers drops and also lifetime servicing so I paid for it. Send it back FedEx once a year for rods and filters to be replaced and any software updates. Initially I didn't think I should be concerned about dropping it, but then considered the times I have had stuff go airborne in the cabin, or hit my head, and figured I was one bad bump from it going airborne and slamming back down breaking it.

I'm not promoting the Inogen but, since it has been mentioned above, here is another topic on MS about it:

And this one mentions the Inogen just tangentially:

MANY people using them higher than 10K.

The 10K limit is what they tested them to for use on commercial airliners.  The cabins stay below 10K.

So people limit them to 14K with 2 users.  But many reports of no problems up to 18K for single user.

I remember many years ago Top Gun adding O2 to a plane without it, I think it was an M20K.  You might call Mark Rouch and ask him how to go about it.  209-983-8082

Here's a possibility

If they said what Altitude their system was good up to, I missed it.  But I've heard some of the other systems like this really only give you a little boost as you get up above 12K, which is really where you need it.

Up to 18k for one person or 15k for two people.

At that weight you could just get two, but they aren’t cheap!

You may want to just pick up an Imogin G5 oxygen concentrator.  No more filling.

Reports are they are least good enough for 2 people at 14K and 1 person at 18K.

Main Line Supply will sell them to you without a prescription if you send them a copy of your pilot certificate.

Inogen G5 ON SALE - Free FedEx Delivery! (mainclinicsupply.com)

There is also a guy that is on BT that sells them.

Inogen G5 Pilot Package- 5 Year Warranty (puremedco.com)

this place sells a setup to run two people off one concentrator and also can sell you a 24 to 12 volt converter.

For what it's worth, my K has an aftermarket onboard O2 from when I bought it. It's got a leak above our heads somewhere in the interior. All the MX's I've talked to said they can troubleshoot it but it'll be stacks of cash, and the interior won't look the same. They troubleshooted everything up to that, which was already $$$.

We switched to a portable one and it's nicer just having it there. Don't feel like you've lost much if you don't go the onboard route.
