I'm looking to take on some new FAA STC modification projects and looking for ideas.  Please send me a private message if you have any ideas or suggestions.

Recognition light replacement with LED bulb, direct replace to existing socket would be a killer.

Hi!

Since 6 years I own a 201. It's a wonderful bird, but the engine doesn't fit in our time anymore. I think the Continental Diesel could be a good combination. Especially because there is the plan to create 170hp out of this 2-liter-engine, MT offers a netter scimitar prop die Diesel usage and the future of avgas is uncertain. What do you think about it?

Norm Smith passed away a few years ago and had a few STC mods for Mooneys including aileron trim (http://aerotriminc.com/id2.html).

I think the daughter may still be selling a few. (http://aerotriminc.com/id1.html)

I'll second that. I would buy that in a heart beat.

Appears to be for experimental, NOT certified aircraft.

It says it is TSO’d, I didn’t read much beyond that.

I did speak with his daughter, Elyse. Very friendly and nice to talk to.

Bring back the inner gear doors for the older models. That's been abandoned.

Thanks for the suggestion.  However, the cost to recertify an new engine/airframe combination is big $$$.  A re-engine effort could be in the $300K+ range. Even if you amortized the cost of the engineering/cert across 50 customers, it would be $6,000 plus $50,000 (engine estimate), $15,000 (prop estimate), $8,000 (installation) and $5,000 (charge for STC rights) results in a $84,000 upgrade modification...probably not many takers.

That referral must be worth a better discount on the inflatable door seal . . lol

Additional landing lights for older models? Saw a Euro Mooney with ones on the gear.

Electric turbo? Is the m20E rayjay a thing anymore?

Standby alt for the short bodies?

Battery box conversion to move the batteries aft in a long body so as to be able to get rid of charlie ballast - maybe in conjunction with new battery technology too

Some way to get additional heat to the interior of a Bravo and maybe other long bodies (eg a heatsink on the firewall from the oil)

Glareshield dimmer and other interior light circuit 'adjustments' to go LED

Lightweight air-con at a sensible price

Long Range Fuel Tanks for Mooney

Best mod I had 36 gallons extra on my M20J and 1500nm range

How about an integral/bladder hybrid system.  Adding a bladder to the wing bay outboard of the integral fuel tanks.  A bladder holding, say, 5 gal (per side) going from 48 gal to 58 would be a big help to me.  Increased range without the complexity of installing an outboard integral tank (although preferred) nor all the additional weight of converting the factory integral tanks to a full bladder system.

Dont forget a pee tube STC as an option, along with WD40+ belly cleaner for guaranteed 15 kts and FIKI :)

And some real drain valves for those long range tanks.
