flyhigh603 Posted July 14, 2016 Report Posted July 14, 2016 I am pleased to announce after 15 yrs lusting on Mooneys , and just ended a 5 yrs plan of research and search i am the proud owner of a M20C . It was love at first sight, and love at first flight. She is a bare bones girl but is gonna be a great canvas to start with. I plan on systematically restoring her while flying the s*^t out of her. So hello fellow Mooney drivers you have one more to the club. One of the best milestones in aviation that i have crossed..... 22 Quote

Wow a 5 year plan. It makes my 6 month search for my plane look downright impulsive . But unlike me, you obviously know how awesome your plane is from day 1. Congrats!!! 1 Quote

Htwjr Posted July 14, 2016 Report Posted July 14, 2016 I have owned my C for about 3 years now and still love the simplicity, speed and efficiency. After doing a fair amount of research myself I came to the same conclusion as you. Nice looking plane and welcome to the club. Quote

I totally get it if you want to remain private but it can be helpful when the questions for the group begin. Looks like a nice example we love our C Quote

bradp Posted July 23, 2016 Report Posted July 23, 2016 Great looking bird. Fresh. Just remeber that restoration and flying the $hit may be exclusive of each other unless downs time is circumscribed. Quote
Raptor05121 Posted July 23, 2016 Report Posted July 23, 2016 OP, come on back and give us more details/pictures. I also don't see your name listed (us Mooney drivers are a small-knit group and tend to learn most first names). Update your profile with N-number, location, etc. Glad to have you aboard! Quote
ArtVandelay Posted July 23, 2016 Report Posted July 23, 2016 Mooney used that exact paint scheme and colors on an experimental M20J with a fully feathering propellor in a 1983 promotional video entitled "The Mooney Experience". They flew it, engine off, in formation with a high performance sailplane in order to show how aerodynamically efficient the 201 was. I have always admired it. Jim Quick YouTube search failed to find this video, too bad, y would have enjoyed watching it. Quote
flyhigh603 Posted July 29, 2016 Author Report Posted July 29, 2016 I went online everyday to gather info on the M20C.I found this site http://www.mooneypilots.com/mapalog/M20C Evaluation/M20C_Evaluation_Report.html and for future Mooney owners its an absolute must read.I posted on Mooney space a year ago asking the masses if it was possible to find a turn key Mooney for around $30,000 and i got lamb basted especially by most of the "rich" assholes who look down their noses at guys like me. Just a blue collar Joe whom works for my money. Anyway I'm here to tell future Mooney owners about my endeavor. After searching 2 hrs a day for 5 yrs , on every Aircraft for sale site i came across my bird on EBAY of all places. There was a buy it now for $26,000 or bid.Plane was for sale on Sellers web site for $30,000. I bid $18,500 and won it. Had a local Mooney specialist do a pre buy and gave it the thumbs up.All the techs in the shop couldn't believe the condition and what i paid for it. She is bare bones with one Nav com radio and a good transponder. High time Motor but runs great . After test flight with high time airline pilot who says she's flys great and flying her myself i jumped on the sale. Hired a ferry pilot and she was flown to NH where she lives now......So future Mooney owners I'm here to tell you you don't have to be rich to own a Mooney. Just do your research and look around. Great deals are out there you just gotta find them.....Cant imagine flying any other plane ..... 3 Quote
