I'm curious if other pilots think of their flying goals/budgets/plans for the year like I do.

How many hours do you think you are going to fly this year?  Also, are you planning on attaining a new rating or instruction outside of BFRs and IPCs?

I plan to top 100 this year after just 92 last year (the last six years all between 100 and 200 until last year) and finally obtain my commercial license.  Next goal would be tail wheel endorsement or CFI.

I take a guess at the budget each year and figure out if I can burn any of the reserve :). Two years ago, I did the glass update because the avionics update reserve had been building since my last major upgrade (STEC 60-2 in 1998) and just was itching to be spent. Of course I obliged.

The biggest obstacle in meeting my budget is my job and the unexpected stuff. An old time pilot told me once "Son, you're going find yourself with all the money in the world and no time to fly or all the time in the world and no money to fly". So true...

I've been entertaining going after my CFI. I have been mentoring a student through his private (guy you meet at Frederick) and really enjoy it.

No real thought of amount of flying to expect, main idea would be based on health, when where me and the misses can go to, add in fun and practice never could predict after my first 10 yrs of flying. Would like to go on a cross country tour with stops in casino town for wife to have something to do. Would expect that to be 20 hrs. Throw in a couple of angel flights maybe a pilot and paws added up most likely 100-125 hrs..more importantly every one of fly safe stay safe and be here to ask the same question again next yr.

Rober c which PPP do you expect to attend..

The Chattanooga PPP in June works best for my schedule. The New Jersey is closer to home but comes after my insurance renewal. Haven't sent the check yet but have the dates blocked in my calendar.

I haven't flown in about 7 years prior to January. As of Jan 14th, I started my PPL training and have logged 6.1 hours and 20 landings since. I plan to be licensed by May 1 and hope to accumulate at least 150 hours before the years end. I would also like High Performance and Complex endorsements if I can find anyone with a plane willing to sign me off.

Don't have to,fly for any reason but fun, with my 40 plus per week job any time I can get more than 50 I know I'm at least flying more than once a week since most of my flights are under 1hr. Want to continue with the aerobatics cylibus that I started which will give me some conventional gear time. Hope to get closer to 100 for the year.

The main motivator for me buying a plane was to have something to do my training in. I'm currently working on my IR and plan to get my commercial and CFI this year. I need a minimum of another 100 hours for CPL, and I have a trip planned for this summer that will probably be around 50. I think 200 this year should be pretty easy at my current rate of flying, and probably quite a bit more.

I did 175 last year between the glider tow plane and the 185/Beaver on floats, with the Mooney in the last two months. I am hoping to do at least 100hrs a year in the Mooney, so with the other flying maybe 250.

Beavers are cool! The president of the previous company I worked for had a amphioxus beaver see pic. That was until he became obsessed with strippers in Minneapolis MN and ended up dating one that had a jealous ex husband gang banger and broke it to his house and shot him in the head.

We all make live style choices...now someone bout his 600k beaver for 300k. New engine and immaculate it even had humidity controlled cedar lined hanger!

Aye. The lad should have stuck with his first Beaver.

Good luck with your IR!  It opens up so much more utility of your aircraft.

After that, don't take a break.  Keep training or it'll be a few years down the line and you'll still be talking about getting your commercial (like me).  Passed my IFR check ride in 2009.   Started training for the Commercial in 2011, things kept getting in the way.  Really want to get it done before June (baby is due in June).

Go get your Commercial immediately, or maybe your tail wheel endorsement, or something.
