Lots of mesh pockets available on Amazon and eBay. Below is an easily removable solution that may suit your needs.

Redundancy. Current moving maps, IFR or "Sectional", and approach plates are on the GTN, the 696 and Garmin Pilot on the Ipad and the phone.

Like KP, I stow the laminated check list overhead along with a small pad of paper and a 6 slot pen holder. For scribbling clearances and route changes.

Well Dan, when your young eyes get to be the age of mine I think you'll find that you can't have too much light.

I've had IPads shut down due to overheating on a few occasions. This likely happened because it was mounted in direct sunlight due to being in a Canopy. However, this hasn't happened in the Mooney since the cabin is shaded well. The Mooney has a moving map GPS panel mounted... but the Mooney is not the only plane I fly. I do my best to transfer habits between planes in an effort to be safer.

The last time the IPad overheated, I used the stored paper sectionals to build a tent over the IPad to keep it cool since it's more convenient to use. While the IPad cooled down, I had a paper sectional neatly folded and clipped to my mini note-taking kneeboard, making it a non-event.

I've also had an IPad battery go dead due to a bad USB charger while in the Mooney. The replacement USB charger now has an indicator light on it to help prevent that from happening again.

Bruce Jaeger installed a number of pockets in my F when we did my interior. Maybe something like this will work.

He used interior car fasteners. Maybe you can use these to attach them through the cardboard backed sidewalls.

I kind of dig this.   Going to have to sew some up.  Should work better since I did leather over alum for the lower panels.

Agreed. I have iPad and iPhone as a backup. Both have VFR Sect, LAE and geo referenced airport diagrams and approaches. I’ve not purchased a paper map in at least 5 years.

iPad Pro, iPad mini, and iPhone XR all with Foreflight connected to a Stratus 2S.

Aspen PFD 1000 Pro, GNS 430W and a MX20 with Chartview.

Two spare battery packs with charging cords, USB C to USB converter for the PMA 450B panel, and USB charger in the cigar lighter slot.

Have not had a current paper sectional chart in a few years.

BUT - if I expect to be shooting an approach in bad weather close to minimums at my destination, I may print off the approaches for it and my alternate. Just a "belt and suspenders" kind of guy.

@gsxrpilot, can we please barrow an oxygen mask for the unfortunate pilot pictured above?  I think some photo cropping to highlight just the checklists and their location would have been the right call here!    I apologize to anyone who woke up to this as the first post they looked at!

WOW, feeling feisty today...and to think I considered a friend.  All I did was make a small slip about who won a race. ;)

I'm considering mounting a visor pocket with the 3M Command Hook-and-Loop system for pictures. Mounting it overhead could be the best option.

I'll be able to tell more about where I can potentially mount something once the plane is back from Annual.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I have carpet half way up the sides.  I've been considering these simple clips with pins in the back.  Then clip on whatever kind of pocket I can find (or make).  I too use my iPad, but I keep expired sectionals in the plane just in case my iPad goes kaput in flight.  Plus sometimes I like to be old school and practice my dead reckoning and pilotage skills.  Calculate my magnetic heading, pick a couple points to find along the way, and launch with (gasp) no GPS.

Being a long time owner, I found a few ways to address the storage issues. Just like my fetish with flight bags, I had another one for storage. When I had my seats redone, I had a second pocket sewn in at the top of the seat back. Makes for handy storage of sunglasses, batteries and smaller items on top.

I also used a number of these on the side window to hold checklists, paper approach plates, IFR clearances, etc.: https://www.amazon.com/JZMYXA-Suction-Cup-Plastic-Suction-Advertising/dp/B075W8GD1R/ref=asc_df_B075W8GD1R/?tag=bingshoppinga-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid={creative}&hvpos={adposition}&hvnetw=o&hvrand={random}&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=e&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl={devicemodel}&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583589101716915&psc=1

Amazon sells a whole slew of different style ones. This one came in handy for when my checklists were on spiral rings: https://www.amazon.com/Suction-Stainless-Bathroom-Kitchen-Windows/dp/B01J1UYI8O/ref=sr_1_26?hvadid=77653040847611&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvqmt=e&keywords=suction+cup+clips&qid=1551824596&s=gateway&sr=8-26&tag=mh0b-20

I also tried this one out: https://www.sportys.com/pilotshop/portable-cargo-caddy.html

And this: https://www.sportys.com/pilotshop/pilot-pocket-pen.html

And I am sure a bunch of others stashed away in the hangar.

Having that top back seat pockets is slick.

I currently have one back seat pocket on each side sewn into the bottom back of each front seat. I generally don't put items I reach for often in those pockets because I'm unable to reach the seat pocket without unbuckling (if the right seat is slid back.) That said, if I could reach it... whatever I wanted would automatically be the last thing I dug out.

Us Johnson Bar E model Mooney owners are short on space. Need a cargo net holder on the side of the foot Wells to hold water bottles and other random crap. Like a battery brick or cables for charger.

Yeah, the only real downside to the JBar is keeping the floor clear. I use the back seat for stuff I want to have access to in flight. (Everybody knows there's no room for people back there.)

I use the back seat for everything too. Buttttt my mom did make the comment “wtf don’t use the back seat for trash and storage”

that was before I showed her where the Jbar went... and before she had to hold her ice tea for an hour straight :D

i bought some mesh mesh off eBay that was supposed to stick to anything except the carpet on my sidewalls is too, tightly knit and they won’t stick. I’m a car trunk they do though.

There's wiring behind the panel and probably a suction line tubing going to the retracting step servo. But you could get lucky...

Don’t know about yours, but my ‘64 has the fuel line, the static line, pitot line, electrical wires running to the fuel sending unit, pitot heat and LH position light, com and nav antenna coax cables...might not wanna drive a screw in there before you have a look:blink:
