The "pent up demand" of the Mooneyites is not lost on TT/BK  They are as anxious as as frustrated as you guys are...

Latest I heard is that ALMOS ALL of it has the STC approval except 1 or 2 components.. Not sure what they are..

N

Whatever is approved first, Dynon or TruTrak.

For the sake of competition I hope these get approved. As an example, I don’t think Garmin would have certified the G3X for GA if Dynon wouldn’t have gone through the hoops to get their HDX STC’d for GA. Competition is good - it keeps prices a little more affordable and drives innovation.

In line with the 'over it' thoughts, its a pity we can't be the kit from TruTrak now and just fit it and wait for the STC.

I mean, if it's likely to be within a year it can be installed after the annual inspection.

I'm pretty sure if I have an insurance claim it will be a write off and no one will come to look.

Even if it needs some parts 'removed' for the next annual, I could see it being possible, but I would want to have the brackets etc supplied by the manufacturer.

Ok, no it is still a go.  I do not trust this too much but will say, I got word this week from them that possibly by end of 1st Qtr it should be ready.  All has been approved but one part from one of their suppliers.

Let the beatings commence now!!!!!  LOL

Wow!  Since it’s that close to being ready, as soon as I get to the hangar tomorrow morning, I will start pulling panels for installation access.^_^

It is now three years and three months since the the Trutrak representative sat across the table at a trade show, looked me straight in the eye and told me that “Mooney certification will be next month.”

P.S: Did you notice that they specified a quarter, but not in which year?

Did he say what year / decade / century ?

No, apparently no one has ever been successful in pinning them down to a definite date.  It is always a relative term like “next month,” or “first quarter” with no year specified.

Well, we officially no longer offer BK autopilots on our website.  I am still waiting for a few of them that have long since gone past the est ship date.  That's one thing, but the lack of communication and follow up is terrible from BK.

Yeah took them off my site too.  Looks like we can finally close this thread, bummer.

Oddly…

The president/CEO of BK’s parent company Honeywell was on CNBC this evening… mad money, Jim Cramer…

https://www.honeywell.com/us/en/company/leadership/darius-adamczyk

Their Private GA business is mostly a step up from where we are….

It is hard to put how well the company is doing overall… and why BK as a division continues to be soooo far the behind the plane…

CNBC has the recorded show available usually within a day… if interested…

Best regards,

I learned in 17 years of automobile sales and Managment that bad news is often difficult and not fun to deliver.  But, dodging phone calls and not replying for weeks at a time only adds gas to the fire.  If you can’t handle that, you’re in over your head.  Seems like that’s where we are at with BK.  I also learned that if the communication is bad BEFORE the sale, wait until you need something afterwards.  Sad, I had high hopes for a relatively inexpensive and safe AP.

Not sure if it matters. The electronic components are near impossible to get right now. Try to purchase a gtx 345 transponder for instance. Can’t be done as of a couple weeks ago when my friend was asking garmin for a new one. They had none. He had to pay the new retail asking price for a used one on fleebay.

The moral to the story is simple. Unless and until they fix the supply chain, even if they get approved, it could be some time before the Al’s are in stock.

”let’s go Brandon!”

Please don't do that on here. Most of us come on Mooneyspace to get away from all of the divisive garbage going on.

Do what? I love all politicians. Especially the old ones that can barely walk. But that doesn’t change the facts. The supply chain is broken. China recently locked down its tech sector. So electric stuff may get even harder to come by. Hopefully they can ramp up and make stuff here in the USA. Maybe lay off watching the view and pay attention.

Seeing these posts, I followed up with Andrew..

Mooney STC is still with FAA....

BK has been "Slammed"  (his words) with supply chain issues.. (no surprise)   Worst he has ever seen... :(

But getting a response from BK on the actual status is impossible. I have equipment ordered from Nov 12 and it is saying online that it will ship Feb 13, 2023.

That doesn't really narrow it down. I think that describes most of them.

One last comment I'll make on this: The supply chain tidal wave issue has been building for the past two to three decades. The misguided JIT (just in time) inventory philosophy that was taught during this time told companies not to produce in large quantities, not to maintain inventories. Dealers didn't have to keep stock on hand and maintain inventories. People that bought into this thought that they had developed sliced bread all over again. Logistics companies made fortunes shipping single parts orders with one day or two day delivery. All of this combined has contributed to the high cost of parts that we pay. It appeared to work during times of no global interruptions, but that's not realistic.

Everyone that is so myopic to believe that supply chain issues are a product of the last 13 months spends way too much time being influenced by either end of the biased news spectrum.

Like I said above, bad news is tough to deliver.  Might even make some one mad.  No news tho..... Come on, all that does is really poke the bear.  They have been "swamped". Laughable.  My day job I manage an auto dealership.  I have supply chain problems everywhere that have to be communicated to the customer.  Mean while I'm responsible to keep customer satisfaction high.  I have to call a customer today and explain I still don't know where his BK/TT is.  (The one that still says shipping mid Feb 2022) And can't get an answer from the company.  Hardly an email ever replied to.

One of the businesses I own is a Mercury Marine facility. We see typically 1500 boats per year for repower, service and repair. This supply chain issue probably started with Covid and while it took awhile to build up to where we find ourselves now, we are in a bind now. If I order a new engine today, we won’t see it til mid to late summer. We keep 250,000 to 300,000 dollars in parts inventory  every day of the year. There’s always something else to order, the price inflation is so intense, we pay more to replace the parts than we sold them for. I have instructed the counter to look up each part for the current price and hopefully we can get it restocked before it goes up again. We lost $40,000 last year before I could catch it.

The inflation problems lay squarely on the current green new deal bunch. The first day in office was an attack on the fossil fuel sector that is still ongoing. You may have noticed the current gas price. Oh, my groceries have all but doubled. If you got it, a truck brought it. Diesel went from $2.40 to over $5.00 during the last 13 months. Undeniable fact. Where it goes from here, who knows? Ask the laughing Hyena vp.

I don’t want to be political, I just wish the working stiffs didn’t have to suffer and the folks not on welfare didn’t have to pay these inflated prices to get by. End rant.

As for the autopilot, I hope I live to see it. The first time I heard it was almost approved was Oshkosh 2018. Then again in 19… I’m all in if it gets approved.
