Jerry 5TJ Posted December 28, 2014 Report Posted December 28, 2014 My flying gift: I got to fly 65 minutes rather than drive 5 hours each way to visit with family and relatives for the holidays. Sparkling clear winter weather prevailed in the west this past week (OK, some Tule fog in the central valley) which added to the cheer. 1 Quote

Sparkling clear winter weather prevailed in the west this past week (OK, some Tule fog in the central valley) which added to the cheer. I did the 5-1/2 hour drive last Saturday and today. Weather in E Tenn is too unpredictable this time of year, and I go back to work Monday. Quote
DrBill Posted December 28, 2014 Report Posted December 28, 2014 You Hams will appreciate this.. I got a new matched pair of 3-500Z tubes for my 2000 Watt amplifier. OH relative to flying ??? I got a breakin at my hangar.. Tore the lock off my hangar box but took nothing! So far, looks like they only got 3 gallons of gas from my neighbor hangar as he had it in a gas can but they gained access to about 8 hangars and so far took only the gas ! BILL Quote

Weather in E Tenn is too unpredictable this time of year, and I go back to work Monday. The trouble with work is they want you to come in, like, EVERY day. So unreasonable. But for that same reason I used to travel in my old "E" with a TWA voucher in my flight bag. (not recently, obviously as TWA is as extinct as the dodo) I used it one December, too, when I could not get out of Memphis heading home towards Baltimore due to ice at all levels of interest. I came back the next weekend on the return ticket and flew the Mooney home in very cold but VMC weather. Quote

BILL You should try those 3-500Z in your Mooney. I have an Icom 706 in mine with HF/VHF antennas. Is amazing what it can do at 10,000ft with only 100 watts José Quote

jetdriven Posted December 28, 2014 Report Posted December 28, 2014 I have the Bruce's plugs for my J and the are cool. The LASAR cowl mod is cool too Re the BMW it was more for the antiskid brakes, airbags, and AWD. They lessen the likelihood of a crash and the consequences of such crash. The 91 eagle talon had none of those. The Orient Blue paint was a freebie. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted December 28, 2014 Report Posted December 28, 2014 Oh, the boss puts an Aircraft Spruce gift card in my company Christmas card every year. He has an A36. 1 Quote
