  1. Flying with the owner isn’t getting you check out time. And most sellers I’ve worked with isn’t spending hours with you up in the air as you shake down their airplane hoping you will buy it. I looked at 16 201’s and got notes from 32, before I found one to buy. Candidates take time to vet. When I purchase a bravo I want to be ready to fly it home and not have to coordinate with multiple people to get to that point. I’m good with planning a trip to the Denver area to get checked out in this Bravo discussed in this thread. Each their own. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Have no idea what the open pilot requirements are, guessing checkout on your own policy is 5 or 10 for solo maybe 20-25 for passengers. In 2016 it was like 5 for my 201 and maybe 10 for passengers. I got checked out in a 201 awhile before I bought mine and had about 20hrs total, I’m pretty sure that put me in a lower insurance bracket but might not be the case now. But the biggest benefit to being checked out in the plane prior to purchase I was able to fly it home to Oregon from Texas and didn’t need a CFI or spend a week or two with an instructor before I could fly home, or have someone fly it home for me. 3. I have emailed them twice to get details on checkout. Even explained I only wanted dual instruction for insurance checkout for future Bravo purchase with no response. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Yeah I would love to fly that thing back to the states vs have it shipped. That might actually be a good choice for the seller to do that anyways. Think they would have better luck selling it here with an N registration and a very capable plane. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Hopefully it will make for a good forever plane:) What are you looking for in a Bravo? I’m based in the PNW so FIKI is at the top of my must have list. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Before I bought my 201 in 17’ I was looking at another in Canada. My understanding talking to a few brokers and one owner that bought a Canadian registered plane it takes about $10k extra after all the paperwork, inspections, maybe taxes was included and can’t remember what else. Now that I’m looking for a bravo, as desperate as I’m getting I would spend the extra if I found what I wanted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. My cousin lives in Ridgecrest, flew into Inyokern for her wedding in May of 2017. Any chance this is the E you’re looking for? Always tried to park next to any Mooney sitting on the ramp. If it is the one, it was rough back then. They should probably just give it to you to get it flying. Hope you get her back in the air!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. It’s always been crazy to think about how a very essential and critical airplane part can go extinct in so many makes and models. It would be great if there was a time that went by if a manufacturer wasn’t making said part the FAA could authorize the manufacturing up for bid, said portion went to original owner of part till they started remanufacturing or something. I know that’s way out in left field but just thinking outside the box to make ownership easier and less AOG’s. Hope you find a v clamp soon and get back up flying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Yep that’s them. I had kind of a similar experience with them years ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Wouldn’t touch Old Republic with a 10’ pole after having to deal with them when my 201 was totaled. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I used this in my 201. Had plenty of room holding the cargo area down when loaded. It’s ready to go in the Bravo when or if it ever arrives. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. This is why I love Mooneyspace! Thanks for the link. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Has anyone upgraded an inadvertent icing Mooney to full FIKI? Still searching for the perfect Bravo after losing my 201. I’ve thought a lot about making the FIKI upgrade on a stock wing but the cost just keeps climbing. So thought finishing an inadvertent could be reasonable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Used two Adela and mounted it on my seat adjustment bar. Before that I had it sitting in a seat organizer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Thanks Rick that would be great to see. I’m still on the fence of keeping the sidewinder. I do like the EZ40 though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I used it once too. Worked well. Next time you need an engine for it let me know.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. This works well for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Hey Salty, Sorry about your plane but very happy you and your passengers were safe. I’m in the same boat as well. Last July a guy hit my plane hand propping it and the insurance just recently decided they would buy out the plane. Go to hell Old Republic…. Sorry I’m still bitter. But for years I’ve been wanting a Bravo because I live in eastern Oregon. In my 201 I have crossed the Rockies numerous times but it would be much better to cross them higher than 15,000, the MEA’s around here are 11,000 and 9,000 so I figured that puts me in the turbo side. but recently I had a friend buy an ovation 3 with FIKI and he’s very impressed. Florida gets weather the Bravo will be able to get you up and over easier and like you said you travel often so if I was you I would still hedge to the Bravo. And I would lean even more that way if you plan on breaking through icing with a FIKI Bravo. I do love the cowl inlets of the ovation though. Sexy and sleek. I will happily pass you notes on any west coast bravos or ovations I look at if I can get east coast notes:) Charles Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I hope to make it this year. I’ll probably be Mooneyless but will enjoy drooling over all the Mooneys out in the ramp. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Yeah even knowing they do this I still want Avidyne in my panel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Well this is going to suck for anyone that buys my 201 now that it’s going to be sold as salvage. It has an IFD440. The plane without a doubt will fly again, because there are only a few dents in the leading edge of the pilot side wing and a few other minor areas. But the log books will be stamped with a salvage mark. Pretty sad. My airplane was chilling minding its own business and a runaway hand propped 172 felt like it needed to occupy some of the same space as my hangar and throw said chunks of hangar all over my plane. It surely didn’t cause any damage to the IFD unit but I totally understand their concern. For the foreseeable future I’m still 100% Avidyne fanboy and thanks to this thread if my next plane is involved in a crash with Avidyne avionics I will make sure the insurance adjuster is aware of the need to replace them in the quote. Thanks for starting this thread. I still have no desire to put any garmin in my plane unless I had no better option. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Very true, when I get down there I will make sure I promote your landing CD and instructions. Hopefully it might make the Bravo last a little longer for them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. They have the Bravo on the rental line. I just requested a membership packet. Hopefully in a week or two I’ll have a pirep on how they are suggesting how to fly the Bravo. What I got from the ad it just says a top speed of 220knots. And is just an advertisement, not really and expectation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Thank you, I’ll keep an eye on them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. It looks like aircraft spruce has 38 24-11m’s in stock. But I’m guessing the -15’s have more capacity. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
