I’m sad to report that our friend Erik Bollt, @aviatoreb, passed away earlier this month.

Although I didn’t know Erik, it saddens me to read this. He came across as one of the nicest contributors to MS.

So sad to read this. Although I never met him, in addition to Mooneyspace we shared a great many exchanges via Savvy and I always was impressed with how fit he kept himself. Can't believe he died so young!

I am very saddened by the news of Erik's passing.  We grew up a couple of years and a couple of miles apart, have corresponded regularly over the years, and while we never met IRL, I do consider him a friend.  He was so engaged, fit and active.  Our little community here is poorer for his loss.

This is indeed very sad. I was going back and forth with him recently on his engine overhaul woes and he was excited to get his plane back. RIP.

Wow, this is a shock!   Erik and I chatted on and off MS, and I counted him as a friend regardless of the disparities of our lives. I will miss his humor and constructive input here.

Oh, no!   I always enjoyed his posts and especially the math geekery.  The tail number on his airplane was icing on that cake.   

I will definitely miss his contributions here.   :'(

This is sad news indeed. I met him once at a NJ Pilots get together. Very nice guy, great contributor, and he had a plane to drool over. Shocking.

I never knew Erik, but very much enjoyed his thoughtful contributions to our community.  He will be missed.

It is indeed sad news. I flew in Erik’s Rocket and him in my Missile. Very sad news. Visited his home in Potsdam, NY as well. 
 

He’ll be missed. 
 

Make sure to kiss/hug/call your loved ones and let them know how important they are to you. Anything can happen anytime.

This was a non aviation death. He was cross country skiing at the time.

I'm glad for his family's sake that he got his new engine installed and it looks like he got it broke in. This should make it easier for them to sell the airplane.

This saddens me greatly!  Such a nice guy here, and I expect even more so in real life.  He seemed to do everything right taking care of himself and it is not fair to leave so soon!
