Hank Posted October 27, 2021 Report Posted October 27, 2021 It'd be nice! But expensive st half the price. 1 Quote
Jesse20 Posted October 27, 2021 Report Posted October 27, 2021 Yes very expensive I have the F model so I have to buy a lot of extra stuff to make this kit work on my plane Quote
rbridges Posted October 27, 2021 Report Posted October 27, 2021 From what I've heard, there is little gain over the J cowl as far as speed. Correct me if I'm wrong. It looks pretty modern and cool though. Quote

MoonFlyer68 Posted October 27, 2021 Report Posted October 27, 2021 Are you looking to sell one? I could definitely be interested if that is the case and the price is right. Quote
steingar Posted October 27, 2021 Report Posted October 27, 2021 50 years of assembly and disassembly has left my cowls in less than ideal condition. Could happen some day. Quote
201er Posted October 27, 2021 Report Posted October 27, 2021 Already have the LoPresti Mooney Cowl 1.0 1 2 Quote

philip_g Posted October 27, 2021 Report Posted October 27, 2021 Wasn't the factory working on a carbon fiber cowl for the j before they went bankrupt one of the hundreds of times? Quote

It looks pretty modern and cool though. When it was put on my airplane, it increased top speed by about 7-8 kts. Some was due to drag reduction and some due to the much more efficient ram air. Whereas the original ram air system gave me at most 0.25" of MP, I get between 1.25" and 1.5" increase in MP. I also really enjoy the dramatically easier preflight and maintenance given the large inspection panels (one on each side) that span the baffling (you can see both in front and behind the baffling) and the lower parting line that makes many more maintenance operations possible with only removing the top cowling (for instance, I can replace all spark plugs, top and bottom, with just removing the top cowling). ArtVandelay Posted October 27, 2021 Report Posted October 27, 2021 For those of us who removed the ram air and landing light from the cowl, we don’t want one. Quote

So what was the install like. Time and cost, if you don’t mind me asking. Quote
LANCECASPER Posted October 28, 2021 Report Posted October 28, 2021 David LoPresti is on this site. Maybe he wants to chime in. @Speed Merchant 1 Quote
