Looking for recommendations for the best $100 burger around my area. I'm planning on flying out of KPVG (Virginia Beach area) this sunday with some friends for about a 2hr round trip. I'd like to go North or NE but I'll consider anything.

Charlie's at KJGG has great food, but is probably too close for you . . . But it's the only airport I've eaten at in Va other than a breakfast burrito at Dulles, and that doesn't count--it certainly wasn't good, and I can't recommend flying in there. Although you probably wouldn't dive for the runway like my Dash-8 pilot did.

Tangier Island (KTGI) is a fun day trip.

I will fly there someday but not this weekend. I want to see some mountains.

That looks like a good option. I was also looking at KSHD (Shenandoah) just to the. Gas is def cheaper here though and they have some good reviews on Foreflight.

Just don't get the large soda drink or you will regret it on your way back.

How about Luray Caverns airport?   KLUA is in a valley in the Shenandoah Mountains, a lovely flight down the valley to the airport.   When I flew in they gave us a ride to and from the caverns.  Restaurants and motels are near-by.

They repaved the runway a few years ago.  Its very smooth albeit a bit on the short side.  The wind is usually blowing so getting slowed down isn't really a problem.

Might not fit this mission but a worthwhile trip is to the State Theater (Barter) at Abington,VA.  We take off from the Catawba Valley here in NC, and head right over Grandfather Mountain.  We get there early (short courtesy ride into town) for a before-lunch performance, have lunch at the Martha Washington Inn across the street, see a mid-afternoon matinee, call the airport for a ride back to the airport and land back home before dark.

Ended up stopping in Crisfield (w41) for some cheap gas but no one was there to activate the pump so we took back off and went to Ocean City (OXB). I decided not to head west due to the winds and the lack of an appropriate runway at my destination to accommodate the wind. We ended up landing to the northwest at both airports and the wind was kicking right down the pipe...between 15-20 kts. I guess I'll have to wait for the mountains some more.

It's not a burger, but Kings at KFCI Chesterfield, oops "Richmond Executive" has a tasty buffet with multiple kinds of BBQ.

And in the summer it's hard to beat the outdoor dining and crab cakes (when they have 'em) at KJGG Williamsburg. The runway is a little narrow and the crosswinds can be exciting, but worth a trip IMHO.
