Over the weekend fellow Mooneyspacer, The-Sky-Captain, gave me a much-appreciated ride to pick up my airplane from its annual. During our flight we discussed Mooney fly-ins and was wondering how much interest there would be from Mooney owners to get together at various places in Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Western Mississippi/Tennessee and Kansas.

Not to take away from the VMG SC fly-ins in Texas as Bucko does a great job setting up those fly-in destinations. Sometimes those destinations are a little far for a day trip from other states.

Please reply if you would be interested and let us know what state you live in or would like to see as a destination.

Definitely interested.  There were a few years ago... Paola KS (K81) is a nice stop with BBQ on the field.  I went with the KPA one time to Topeka and toured their neat air museum on the field.  Ponca City OK (PNC) is always good.  Stearman Field (1K1) outside of Wichita is also great with a very nice restaurant on the field, along with a lot of activity.

I don't own a mooney...yet.  But I would be glad to join you guys somewhere as long as no one laughs and points at the Arrow I am flying.

KFOE (Forbes field in Topeka) is always our fuel stop in the 60 because they feed us $1 BBQ on the airfield.  Its nothing special, but its great for $1!

...Im not sure if GA pilots are treated the same way.  Heres to taking on 275 gallons of Jet A per aircraft after a 2hr flight :)

I would love to check out K81.  If they have Jet A maybe we will start hitting them up for some variety (I have heard from some that our command is getting tired of briefing flights that include KFOE).

Sounds like a good idea. I had tossed the idea out last year, but my work/business schedule prevented me from stepping up to the plate and getting something organized. I would love to attend something in the areas you mentioned.

As mentioned above Ponca City Ok and Paola Ks are good destinations with good food. Hot Springs Ar and Branson Mo would be nice trips as well as nice overnighting options. If you guys want to visit NWA I'd more than happy to host here at KROG. Either way, I'm in. Give me a date...

Keep in mind Branson will be hosting the MAPA PPP October 9-12 so that will be a good opportunity for us to all meet up as well.

The lure of a good golf course and refreshments with other Mooney pilots could entice my partner and I out of Iowa...

Let's go together You fly I'll enjoy a barcardi and diet coke :)

Do it. Even though I'm on the east coast I can tell you that any time I make it to a Mooney Fly In its worth it to just chat with other Mooney pilots and also put faces to those on MooneySpace. Organize it. Even if only a few birds show up its worth it!

I don't know if anyone has picked up the baton and is still doing the Midwest Lunches, but we always had a great time and easy on the eyes waitress at Ricks boatyard café at KEYE Indy.

I made one of those right after freshening my cylinders, which ended up being the total break-in.  Might need to do it again after I get the overhaul done.  :)

I'm interested.  Live in Memphis suburb and based across the river in Arkansas.

Also, I should be able to provide ground support if a group decides to fly down for some BBQ,.  Another Mooneyspacer has an F based at M01, which has a reasonable gas price and isn't far from downtown Memphis.

I have a pic of you and a few others holding a bunch of Lab pups being loaded in Michael Baraz's Rocket on the ramp at KEYE from that day, Scott. Good stuff!!

Here's a shout-out from Ohio and I'm in.  The Indy area and 'easy on the eyes' suits me too!
