Unable to make it... Just can't see myself launching with Edwards forcast for IFR around arrival.... Maybe next time...

Unfortunately I won't make it today.

Weather at my home airport is and forecast to be IFR. This is not a big deal but last night a friend <<forced me>> to have a few drinks....well, actually quite a few drinks. IFR is fine but not the way I feel today.

Next time I'll stay out of the weeds the night before but today I'm deep in them. Have fun to all that make it and I WILL see you next time.

I'm sorry for "life happens" for you today.  May life continue to happen for you though....

Best to you and super congratulations to you both!

According to the forecast this morning it was supposed to be IFR two hours ago. Just got home from going to Havasu and see it's Broken at 20,000'... would have loved to be there but didn't want to gamble on the forecast. I'll be watching for the next one. Hope everyone had a great time! I watched @MHemperly take off from Corona as I was fueling up to go to Havasu.

Considering a repeat performance at SMX soon.

Captain Moyer was not able to attend, so I want you all to meet this national treasure of a person.

Let's see how the weather evolves.

Terrific camaraderie amongst us all and a most cordial and very interesting ArtCraft tour.  Thank you Teresa for your thoughtfulness and generosity.

Consider Sunday April 9th.  The MAPA PPP is at SMX that weekend & you would have a dozen or so Mooneyspace there already

Thank you so much for that thought and idea.  I sincerely appreciate that.  In my opinion, I feel it would not be correct to interfere or detract with, or from the MAPA PPP event.  The MAPA PPP event is a highly focused and formal event, and our little Mooney gatherings are very informal.   The SMX Fly - In was and is, simply a device for promoting having fun flying our Mooneys someplace.   Thank you again I appreciate any future thoughts or ideas.

With that said, however, and as I think more about your idea, those that wanted to fly here, not participating in the MAPA PPP, we could certainly do Mooney Fly-In, SMX again [repeat all from yesterday], without interfering with their program.   The MAPA PPP event is at the Southeast end of the field at the hotel, and Mooney Fly- In, SMX is at ArtCraft, located on the mid-Northwest end of the field.  Hmmm, this could work!!!!

And, it would be fun to hear comments from my SMX tower friends, regarding such a gaggle of Mooneys descending into SMX!!

Saturday, April 8th.............What say you all?

The PPP is done by noon on Sunday so it would not interfere in my opinion, if it was noon or after

Definitely a good possibility.  Those that wanted to straggle over with Mooney in tow to ArtCraft ramp after the PPP, have lunch at Pepper Garcia's, meet Captain Harry Moyer and tour ArtCraft facility, certainly could do so.  And, of course, all non-PPP Mooney folks/airplanes would also be very welcome too fly in!  I like it!  This could be another terrific chance for airplane talking and Mooney gawking too!  Thank you for the idea.

Alrighty then!  Thank you to MSr "amillet" for suggestion coinciding the next Mooney Fly-In, SMX with the MAPA PPP at SMX, on a non-interference basis.

Sunday, April 9, please fly or drive here if you are not already here for the MAPA PPP event.

Arrivals beginning 11 AM [or whenever you get here].  Lunch at Pepper Garcia's Mexican Restaurant [very short walk to terminal], followed by a very interesting and informative tour of the ArtCraft Paint facility.  It's quite enjoyable to see the plane painting process in its various stages, as we are led through the facility by owner Teresa Arredondo.

ArtCraft always provides some fun little surprises for us Mooney folks during these events.  Also, we will give away one bottle of "Tribute" wine blend in honor of our treasured person, Captain Harry A Moyer [WWII P40 pilot defending B29's over China, and current M20E pilot], a free aircraft detail from ArtCraft, and more than likely some more, what I call, "propeller socks" [custom prop. covers created by ArtCraft].  Hoping Captain Moyer will be able to attend with us.

For those attending the MAPA PPP event, at the end of your course on Sunday [at noon I'm told], please taxi your beauty over to the ArtCraft ramp and join the rest of us Mooniacs!  Lunch, tour, giveaways, Harry Moyer and more airplane talking and more Mooney gawking!

Hi ya!  I'm bumping this thread up on purpose as I see it's gone down out of sight on the second page now.
I simply wanted to make sure you all see it again and know that the fly in is happening!

MSr "amillet" says many Mooneyspace folks are indeed attending the MAPA PPP here in Santa Maria next month.

If you feel comfortable, would those of you signed up for the PPP, post up here that you are coming to the class?  If not, that's fine too.  I'm just curious.

I have a very good retired United Airlines Captain friend [Ovation driver] who has attended the class previously and gives the PPP very high marks.  I would enjoy attending myself one day.

Thank you.
