We will all be at the Mooney Summit in Panama City Beach

Us, too.

I'd like to be in Indy, though. Should be interesting having the air race at the Speedway. May have to set the DVR,

It will be the first race without Hannes Arch. So sad...

We were very much looking forward to seeing Hannes Arch!  He was a charasmatic amdassador for adventure sport! Tragic loss!

We got seats on the north vista, I'm excited about the flight to and from EYE but I'm not going to get to excited about the race until it happens. I have a tendency to expect to much out of things sometimes haha. Ill try to park by you and snap a pic and gloat about the experience Sunday night.

We had a great time at The Red Bull Air Race!  The IMS was a great venue!  They definitely know how to run an event! It was nice to see good crowds!  All the pilots were super friendly and gracious!

Wow, would love to get to one of these some day.  Did they fly out of the speedway?  Ceiling looks low...what was it at?  I guess they don't need much.

They had to delay for about 45 minutes due to low ceiling and fog. It started to break up shortly after noon and they sent out a test plane to fly the course. Ceiling was somewhere between 1200'- 2000' overcast. The race planes took off and landed on a runway in the infield. They fly low and fast!  it was amazing to watch!

I had a awesome time!! We arrived to the race track and got seated as soon as the round of 14 started! I'll defiantly go again. As for my arrival that was a different story, I'm still in IFR training and my instructor was with me. We stayed at 8,000 in a hold for 25 minutes and then was vectored for the localizer for 21. We leveled off at 5000 (maybe 200 ft from the cloud layer) and then caught the localizer and started my first EVER decent into IMC it was nerve racking but luckily with encouragement from a old radio stack and a smooth minded instructor (that needed to use the facilities) we broke out at 1800 and touched down! That had to be one of the most memorable trips I'll ever make. While fueling up I met a fellow mooney owner and had a great conversation with him and his wife, can't remember his name but I think his wife's name is Maria.

mm,

how was the Eagle Creak and ground transportation?  Any challenges?

Weather in Indy was low IFR all Sunday morning. We wanted to get to the track early to meet the pilots so we ended up driving over from Dayton. The ceiling started to break up around noon as JKSmith states above. Meeting the pilots and walking around the hangar viewing area was one of the highlights of the day so as much as I wanted to fly over, I think we made the right decision to drive.

While not for the air races I have flown into EYE on a number of occasions they usually have a cab there in about 15 to 20 minutes.  I have not tried to get a rental because i am usually there only for 2 nights and spend mos of the time  at the hotel for meetings.

Ashley and Maria Neboschick left Summit at 6:00 Sunday and checked in at the races.

They were in a sandy colored 201. I believe they did say they came from the summit. Good to meet some kind people!

They're great folks. Based in North Charleston SC. We flew Caravan together. I think their J has a bigger engine. He flight plans at 170 ktas.

Meeting people is always cool!

Mooney pilots and Extra pilots are the Best!

I have talked with Indy drivers at tracks other than Indy.  It is usually too crowded to get anywhere near them on race weekend.

In NH, I stayed at a RedRoof Inn.... in the morning, some guy had put his cup of coffee on the roof of my car. Some guy named Bobby Rahal... Red Roof was one of his sponsors! :)

Keep making Memorable days...
