INA201 Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 I bought a 1978 M20J a year ago. Now I am tearing out our kitchen to update it. Does anyone know "why this is happening"? I'm new to this. 1 Quote

bradp Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 Your putting the old appliances into your new hangar kitchen? 3 Quote
Marauder Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 I think simply you have lost your mind. I have done one kitchen, enough for me for a lifetime. 4 Quote

PTK Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 Think of it as simply remodeling the galley. Very normal. You have not lost your mind! 1 Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 You got off easy, you still have drywall on your walls! Wait till you need a new engine.... 2 Quote
Aerodon Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 Now if you had done it the other way around, you would be flying at least a 231... 2 Quote
Jerry 5TJ Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 That's funny, I got a new plane and a new kitchen last year, too. Quote
kris_adams Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 1) you had to use some AMU's at the house or 2) you needed an oven to powder coat airplane parts and redoing the kitchen keeps it under the radar 2 Quote
1964-M20E Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 Well she eventually got a new Jeep and a new dinning room table. She gets some nice trips as well. Too bad you are that far away I need a good used electric stove for the club house at the airport. 1 Quote
Brandontwalker Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 I think it is a pretty common condition. I bought a 77 J a little over a year ago. All new appliances appeared in the kitchen last week and it appears new cabinets and counter tops are in order as well. I wish someone warned me of this before. I now have a good powder coat oven in the basement waiting on the electrician. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Htwjr Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 Because ATC (the wife) issued vectors (instructions) to be cleared for the approach (the bedroom). You as PIC can ignore them at your own peril however. 2 Quote
Trailboss Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 I had no idea this was such a common issue. This should be accounted for on every price list of "how much does an airplane cost?". I had to do the kitchen first, by the way...but then got into a great '88 J. 2 Quote
jetdriven Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 You guys are lucky, I did not only all the appliances, granite, I also had to tear out the drywall to wire under cabinet lights and then a full glass tile backsplash. Also R&R and repainted all 43 cabinet doors and drawer faces. I didn't lay the granite but I did the rest. She let me buy a 201 but she really owes me a P-Baron for all that work. 5 Quote
TWinter Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 It's really just simple math.. Home Upgrades + Airplane Upgrades = Happy Marriage/Relationship. Follow this simple formula and you will both grow old and happy together You and the airplane that is............ 2 Quote
Oldguy Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 Because you are setting up to trade the J in on a higher, faster, longer range Mooney and wanted some brownie points before you broached the subject? 1 Quote
Becca Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 (edited) Just now, jetdriven said: You guys are lucky, I did not only all the appliances, granite, I also had to tear out the drywall to wire under cabinet lights and then a full glass tile backsplash. Wow, someone is re-writing history. I am mostly indifferent about house stuff, HE is an appliance snob. He did it to entertain himself while I was traveling in Southeast Asia with my family. and the 201 is mine not his Edited September 23, 2016 by Becca 4 Quote

INA201 Posted September 23, 2016 Author Report Posted September 23, 2016 OK OK I think I get it now! Is the term AMUS used to determine the Aviation Monetary Unit with the S being the spouse multiplier? 1 Quote
