Army, Navy, Airforce or Marines

  1. 1. Seems like a lot of us on the forum have served in the Armed forces so I thought it would be interested to see what branch has the most representation. GO NAVY!

This is a great opportunity to express thanks to all the Mooney spacers that have and are serving our country. Got a Nephew that we are so proud of 4 years USAF 2 years reserves and now active duty in the Army. Dad was a first sergeant under Pattons third army and fought in the battle of the bulge. He very rarely spoke of it.

I didn't serve in the military but a big thank you to all that have served and are serving.  You know the price of freedom.

Also if you are not already a member of please consider joining a veterans organization.  I am very involved in the Sons of the American Legion at the state and national level.

Good call.

I recently signed up with the Veterans Airlift Command http://www.veteransairlift.org/ Unfortunately many of their missions really call for turbine or jet aircraft and don't originate/end in my part of the world so I won't be doing as much flying for them as I'd like :(

WOW, I'm impressed with everyone who has posted here. Navy 85-2008, spent some time flying interesting missions in some hot areas during that time but nothing to write home about. Thanks everyone for your service and support.

I saw ned posted, I hope members from other countries do not feel this is US specific, I just used the US service designations because it seemed like everyone could find a related branch.

GO NAVY

I'm going to have to re-dig this info up for you.  He died shortly after the war (indirectly related, the war killed his liver) long before I was born.  So I only have the stories and a few keepsakes.   I'll see what I can dig up, been meaning to do this for a while anyways.

I did not serve but I tried. I was in a competition labeled "High school to flight school". An army initiative for flying helicopters. I didn't make the final cut, got mad and went to college :)

Dad was a tank driver. In-laws were navy, ex father in law a big wig in the Air Force. Maybe I can get USAA?

Fortunately, children of those that served, are bestowed with access to USAA...  (Dad was in the Army)

USAA takes the mysteries out of

 - Insurance (car, house, has relationship with plane insurance broker)

 - financial services (mortgage, mutual funds, trading accounts)

 - purchasing services. (Jewelry, cars and other things)

Check out usaa.com if not familiar. They combine higher quality with lower cost.  Compare to what you have already.

Best regards,

Children, grandchildren, and then some. I've been with USAA for as long as I've needed insurance and banking courtesy of my Dad's service. My kids all use USAA, except my daughter who's husband is California Highway Patrol. USAA will even take stepchildren as members. After my wife and I were married I added her children to USAA as well. I love their service and can't imagine changing, and nobody seems to be able to touch their rates when comparing apples to apples.

US Army, Fort Lewis WA 1974-1977.  Grandfather, WWI, USMC (brought home an 8 MM Mauser he took off a German officer trapped alive under his horse, left him alive too.  I have that rifle today).  Uncle, USMC, WWII from September 1941 to October 1945 in the south Pacific.  Dad, USMC during the Korean conflict.  Never left state side.  My cousin (only son of the WWII uncle) served in USN during Nam.  Thank god he broke tradition because I was NOT going in the Marines.

Yes, admittedly this is unfortunate. But I was thinking more of this:

Sorry to hear that. I had the pleasure of growing up with my grandfather and hearing his stories. But. It was only after he died and I became an Army aviator that I had enough context to better understand how it was. Still have his Air Force flight logs, though.
