Anyone been to Dugosh recently?  I'd love to hear some feedback.  I got a call from them today encouraging me to schedule my annual with them.  I used them 2 and 3 years ago, but then the shop was sold, and some of the folks went back to the factory when it opened.  Last year I opted for another shop.  This year I need to figure out what to do.   SWTA and Dugosh are an easy drive.  Maxwell (who I really like) requires a ride on a commercial flight.

When do you want to go to Maxwell? I'm happy to give you a ride. We just have to coordinate the day.

Maxwell is in the same state.  How far can it be?  :P

55 driving miles to San Marcos.  2 round trips is 220 miles

126 driving miles to Kerrville. 2 round trips is 504 miles

234 driving miles to Longview.  2 round trips is 936 miles.   Round trip air is $269, or $0.29 per driving mile.  It's why I consider flying commercial for pickup and drop off.  That and not hearing about it for hours from my wife, who gets to drive the car.

Ideally April, but I've put over a 100 hours on the plane since the last annual.  I could be convinced to go a month early.

I got another call from Dugosh today.  This time it was from David Behrens, who has been an AI with Dugosh for many years. It turns out that there has been another change of ownership at Dugosh and David is now a co-owner.   I view this as a positive change and look forward to David once again working on my plane.

With David Behrens working on your plane there's no need to go anywhere else!

I'm very happy to hear he is taking over at Dugosh.

I went to Maxwell last year from the great state of Delaware. I went home Commercial and picked it up commercial. The 1000+ mile trip on the way home my wife joined me and we made a 10 day vacation from Texas to New Orleans To Windsor Canada and all in between great time. Just consider making your annual a vacation that way the cost of the annual becomes part of your vacation..well I tried to get my wife to buy it anyway.mLooking forward this year to travel to Calif. for our annual leaving the plane in Longview.

Chris, if you haven't made up your mind yet, I highly recommend Brian Kendrick at San Marcos.  Several of my posts on him here.  830-370-1190.  He works Sunday through Friday.  Ping me or IM if interested in details.

Regards

Steve

Chris, SWTA I believe has closed for the time being.

They are back open under new ownership.

Also glad to hear that Gandy is no longer involved with DuGosh... was not going back for my annual next month until I heard about David takeing over.  Shop rate was raised to 110/hr by previous owner.  Davids rate is a reasonable 85/hr.  Going back friday for the annual.
