the airport manager emailed me.  She said insurance totaled it and was more than likely going to auction it.  Just an FYI if this interests anyone.  I don't know what happened, but I looked at the plane, and I don't see signs of a gear up landing.  I'm assuming the prop hit something while on the ground.

N6631U is the number.

edit--I do know it was a prop strike

There are only three D models left with fixed gear. At least one owner is on this board. Odds are not favorable for this to be one of them.

The D model isn't that the fixed gear version?  Has it been converted to retract?

I think it's been converted. I spoke with the owner when he first got it, but that's probably been 3-4 months.

  • Man ... If the guy whose M20 got scraped for spar corrosion ... Like only a year or so after he bought it .... If he could lay his hands on that and get his engine and prop in there ... !!!!  Redemption! He was on here. Anyone remember his name? Wonder if he would be interested? I'd be willing to pitch in a clean new $100 bill ... If it'd make a difference ...

Ok , I don't fully comprehend this but it appears we started a fund for

westbrookgolfer

Ok I have a $100 bill too, I'll  throw in to help a flyer get this plane together.

If memory serves me correctly, he sold the plane and gave up flying for a while.

Nice look in' D/C.  Feel bad for the owner- I always worry I'm just one pothole away  from this situation.

Can't you just increase the hull value on your insurance to prevent this situation?

Now we know what happened to the engine . . . Ain't no 180hp Mooney going that fast without a really nice tailwind. I've done it exactly twice in eight and a half years. But it sure is nice looking at the GS and seeing numbers above 180 knots! Heck, I like seeing anything above 150, and get positively gleeful at 160!

I was enlarging the picture...and other things .

I get it :-)

That happens to me when I look at Mooney's...nothing to be ashamed of.
