I guess I kind of just assumed that I was the last aviator on Earth that hasn't been but I am realizing that some long time pilots haven't either. Who has been, hasn't been, planning to go, doesn't want to go? What's been drawing you to go a lot or holding you back?

For me, inexperience and fear of the arrival was one of the things holding me back once I had my own plane. Before owning a plane, I just didn't feel right going in a rental or otherwise.

Twice...

Once with a C and GAC (two people and stuff for four days)

Once with an R and GAC (same two people, stuff for four days, case of beverages, a kitchen sink...

The heavy R was a bit difficult getting out of the soft field parking at Sloshkosh.

The sights are spectacular, home builts, power plants, mooney people, mooney factory, mooney Speed....

I took along another experienced pilot.

In the modern world, we can simulate with google earth. We know what all the land marks look like before we get there.

Traffic can be heavy, but we got new tools to help there as well. Arrive early enough to miss the heavy traffic.

Practice with SNF, then do it for real at Oshkosh...

Everyone should go,

I'm here now. Great show this year.

Third time; Twice before cane in my "E" when I parked in camping and did the tent under the tail option.

Ahhh.....but you cheated this time - you flew your JetProp!

The Fisk arrival is a bit stressful , It is my third time out....The first time I did the Caravan.....Then won a charity auction and won left seat In a DC3 , Yes my only two hours of tailwheel time were in a 25000 pound monster....  Only at Osh.......I don't think I will ever (or ever be able to afford to) top my first trip out!!!!!  The comradery  and feeling of being a part of something that big are overwhelming....I hope you had a great time.......It was good seeing you out there ......And Mike post a pic of the Mooney coin I gave you....

I cannot vote as a selection relevant to my attendance was not available. I,to have been twice. Once in 2004 and once in 2005. I will return someday. Hopefully in my new (to me) plane instead of on an airliner this time.

I went in 2009 and have wanted to go back every year since.  I plan to go again.

Please add to the poll (Once, and I plan to go back!).  I chose "Once, occasionally" even though as of now it's only been "Once."

I have not yet been to Sun'n'Fun

Been two years in a row now. Probably skip next year. I fly to the outskirts and hotel it with a rental car. I guess that is still considered going. Really went to enjoy the whole show, but also see what direction Mooney is headed.

I've been every year since the early 90s. It's been a dual purpose trip for me for years as I own an aviation related business (Hendricks Mfg., Inc) as well as having roots in the Green Bay area. This year I flew back to visit family but did not attend the show for the first time in 22 yrs. I was just south of Oshkosh near Lake Geneva having too much fun fishing and was probably worried about how much money I'd spend if I went. I'll be back next year though.

For those of you worried about flying into a busy airshow, try landing at one of the smaller airports nearby and either renting a car or take a shuttle. Flying to an airshow is a lot like riding a motorcycle. ..you may be the safest pilot in the world flying right next to the most reckless or inexperienced. For me it's just not worth the risk. I've only flown into OSH three times, but have witnessed more than three fatalities at shows. GRB is a great alternative 45 min car ride north. Just plan ahead and reserve a car and a tie down.

Flew into GRB where the rental RV was waiting. GRB is just N of the OSH TFR.

No shortage of ramp space but hangars wait listed.

Camped 2 miles south of Oshkosh and riding the bus back and forth.

Yes, this year I and 2 others came in the P46T as it is faster by a bit.

Last time I was here was 1997 so it all seems fresh again.

Main difference I notice is then there were lots of WWII vets around but now those guys are all but gone.

I have been about six times and was there Monday and Tuesday this week. I did not fly into OSH however. Landed at ATW and rented a car. This year I made a point to go to the seaplane base. Very nice, less crowded and low key. Took in two forums and the military theater Tuesday at ten - talk about the Ravens in Laos late 1960s and 1970 if I remember correctly.

It was great! 18. 4 on the Hobbs. Maybe someday I will get the nerve to land there.

I've flown in 3 times, and driven in (from Duluth) once so far.  The driving trip was with Cirrus Design when I worked there, and we had a house in town.  The other times were camping in the North 40.  I'd like to go annually, but haven't been able to do so.  It is quite a fun event, especially camping with the plane and enjoying the camaraderie.  Camping also minimizes what I feel is wasted time commuting and hiking in from parking, which is significant since the town is ill-equipped to handle such a rush hour.

Every pilot should make the journey at least once!  It is truly amazing, despite the growth and commercialization.

Agreed. My story too. I've been once and would love to go back. I'm just not sure when.

I arrived Saturday and just got home today. I was at a couple of the mooney events and I heard you were there but I didn't see you. I was over at scotch night and ran into a few other people I knew.

This was my second year in row in Oshkosh. Both were with the Caravan. At the arrival debrief, some pilots who were part of previous years caravan when formation training was not mandatory and the clinics and supporting training was not in place had very good opinion of how it is now happening. When you arrive in formation, you only have to follow your lead. One single clearance took care of 36 aircrafts. This is much easier than the Fisk arrival.

This year's camping was kind of humid... we had storms almost every day and the wife made a point that it was her last year in that leaky tent!

I had the pleasure to meet some of the Mooneyspacers posters. It was nice to meet them in person.

Did Sloshkosh, but because ours is a '65, we went to VAC and it was both open and drier.  The Fisk arrival scared the living bejees out of me.

Skipped 2011 and 2012 (work got in the way) and went via the Caravan last year and this.  Yves did a great job in organizing us both (with some others) for "station keeping" training in the Ottawa area last year and this.  Merci mon chum.

Caravan is a far safer arrival evolution.  I will be back again next year.
