  1. I did this exact project almost three years ago, in my hangar. My hangar, oddly enough, had linoleum tiles in the middle and carpet under the tail and wings. I hated it because the tile was old and had absorbed a lot of oil over the years. It looked like crap. I decided to scrape the old tile and put down a product called Rustoleum Rock Solid. Gray and tan are easy to find but I wanted white so I used the Marble color product. I just mixed it into a solid white instead making marble swirls during application. It ended up being a much bigger job than I anticipated. I bought a hand grinder from Harbor Freight to grind away the glue from the concrete. This created a bunch of dust and got everything dirty in my hangar. It was also slow and tedious. I then rented a larger grinder from Home Depot to save time. That was about $150 for a few hours. I pressure washed the concrete with a concrete cleaner as there were some oil stains. Long story short, I applied the Rock Solid product and it has lasted quite nicely for about 2.5 years now. I like the white as it makes finding dropped screws and camlocs easy to find. I would not recommend using those flakes that it comes with. It looks a lot cleaner without them. Just be careful and don’t slip. I’d also recommend buying extra product and putting it on a bit thick. Don’t think you’ll cover the area specified on the box.
  2. I had the highest tier for two years, from 2021 to 2023, as well and didn’t find the service worth the cost. I’m fortunate enough to have a good relationship with my mechanic just 4 T-hangars away from me. I’ve used him for annuals for 6 years now. During the annuals, Savvy would communicate with the shop and was kind of like a middleman that didn’t need to be there. I literally see my mechanic all the time while I’m at my hangar so communicating through email from Savvy to my mechanic and mechanic to Savvy, to me, just didn’t make sense. I will likely renew one day for the break down service, especially when I start flying to Mexico.
  3. Yes, DM me. I’ll be placing the order on Tuesday.
  4. Just myself, Mcstealth and I. Is there a fourth guy interested before we place this order?
  5. I think you described “active stalking” and “passive stalking.” Active stalking could be interpreted more of a threat than passive stalking. I dislike both. I too value my privacy which is why I did the LLC thing too. It’s cheap privacy, in my mind. I don’t understand how someone at the FAA thought making registration information public was a good idea. Do they not see the potential problems here? In 1989, a star obsessed fan named Robert Bardo shot and killed actress Rebecca Schaeffer at her home in West Hollywood. He found out where she lived by paying a private investigator $250 to find out where she lived. The PI was able to get those records through the California DMV by making a simple request and paying a small fee, which was legal, at the time.. The murder resulted in federal legislation called the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act which barred DMVs from disclosing personal information. As most people know, many policies and laws are written in blood and unfortunately, that’s likely what it will take to have this asinine law changed. With the advent of so many YouTubers, many being young, attractive females, I fear it’s only a matter of time someone does something stupid and tries to harm one of these young women. All YouTubers would be wise to register their aircraft under some LLC that’s not registered to their home address before publishing any videos online. There is just far too much mental illness out there these days.
  6. I have mixed feelings about this. While I think it’s an incredibly d*****bag thing to do, I don’t necessarily think he’s doing anything illegal or that he can be sued for if he’s simply republishing open source data. Perhaps if someone committed some nefarious act against one of these “celebrities” and it could be proven that the published racking data facilitated that act then maybe he could have some legal liability. However, I’m not a lawyer but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express las night.
  7. I just got this email today and was wondering if anyone else wants to go in on this discount. If four of us get together we can buy three Delta Zulu headsets at $1100, get a fourth for free and split the savings. Cost for each headset would come out to $825 + tax. I’m in CA so unfortunately that’s 10% unless someone in a state like OR, that doesn’t have sales tax, wants to participate. Anyone interested?
  8. Mooney just moved up on the certification process for the AP.
  9. It was brought to my attention that someone reached out to a potential buyer, on my behalf, vouching for me and telling this person to contact me at (385) 269-9383 to complete the purchase. That is not my phone number and I don’t t have anyone communicating on my behalf. Please be careful and do your due diligence before sending money to anyone on this forum. I recommend pinning this message for now.
  10. They’re yours. I can take Venmo, PayPal or you can mail me a check.
  11. Asking $30 + shipping, as is. The front face panel is loose.
  12. Selling as is with yellow tag. The clear plastic is loose. Asking $50 OBO + Shipping.
  13. Asking $200 OBO + Shipping. I upgraded to an all glass panel and no long need this.
  14. I too had my glareshield sent to Aero Comfort in 2015 and it cost $395 + shipping to have it wrapped in leather back then. The leather still looks great to this day and I’m very happy with it. I highly recommend them.
  15. I previously had the GI-106 before my Dynon upgrade and had no issues with the IFDs not working with the 106.
  16. Like Eric said, the IFD is way ahead of the GNS and is some ways, IMHO, even better than the GTN products. I have time behind my IFD 440s and a GTN 650 at work. I definitely prefer the IFD over the GTN. The IFDs are newer, have Wifi and BT built in, they have knobs and buttons to do everything so you’re not relying on touchscreens. One minor detail I like is that Avidyne actually spells out the name of the controlling facility for a particular frequency such as “Portland Tower” while the GTN says “PHX TWR.” Minor detail but I like that. Funny thing, the GTNs didn’t originally even have that feature and only implemented that after Avidyne already had it in their IFD product line.
  17. I’m not a big fan of touchscreen either but the Avidyne IFDs function using both touchscreen and knobs/buttons. I’d say I use the knobs and buttons for just about everything except for inputting waypoints and flight plans. I see you’re based in Livermore. If you ever come down to SoCal I’d be happy to take you up in my plane to play with the IFDs. I have dual 440s in my plane and I’m very happy with them. Do yourself a favor, don’t listen to the guys who trash one product over the other and don’t listen to a guy who flew behind an IFD once and have him tell you Garmin is better. See for yourself, then make an informed decision.
