Thanks again all.  It looks like migration might start around Aug 20th - I am waiting to find out how long our beloved site will be shut down during this process - hopefully not for long!

Craig Can you post a $ counter on the top of the site to see how we are doing against the requirements?

Thanks, Donation done.

Hopefully the look and feel of the site will not change much.  This is a failry easy system to use compaired to some others.

We do have a problem too many people are agreeing here no flaming comments. :-))

Paypal sent...

Thanks for making the site available!  Looking forward to the improvements from the upgrade- this site is a great resource and much appreciated.

Aero-Force, LTD on paypal is me, Craig. If you require more, just let me know. I plan to make a yearly contribution, at a minimum.

I assume much of the coding effort is to port over the archives, and keep the look somewhat similar. I too like the idea of possibly putting a star or something next to each contributors name.

Wouldn't it be productive to get Mooney Talk and MAPA over here, but I guess it will never happen.

It's interesting that the Mooney community seems to be getting more diverse than the P, C and B people, with our multiple blogs, magazines, geographic groups, and so on. It must confuse many and sure can be a time consuming. Undecided

Thanks again everyone.  We are currently at about $2500.00 - which should cover all costs to move the site over with money to spare.  The proposal to move it came in a lot lower than expeceted but if there are complications the costs could go up - but I still don't see it costing more than $800-$1500 at this point.  The costs going forward will be about $50-$75 per month depending on what level of package our traffic requires on the new IPBoard system.

After talking with the developer it sounds like everything can be moved without issues (users, forum topics & posts, avatars, photo galleries).

The project is currently slated to start Aug 20.  I don't have an ETA - and it is important to note that the site will be shut down during the migration - so hopefully a few days at most.

Once we are online with the new system I am going to cross reference every user that donated and give them a special forum title.  We will probably keep a donate link up going forward so that anyone can help support the site.

Cheers! Laughing

And just what are we supposed to do for those FEW days?  Wink

Craig,

After seeing this fundraiser get going in the proper direction so fast, it is clear that you have created a top quality gathering place for a group of top quality people!  It is clear that your site is of great value to many!  Thanks Again!

Please consider including a member map in the redesign.  Would be nice if members could "opt out" on a member preference page.  This would help greatly for members to get together in person for lunch or while traveling.  Thanks in advance for considering!

Craig,

Paypal sent, I know you thought you had enough money, but wanted to participate anyway. Thank you for all your work for the past 4 years. This little extra can go towards the monthy costs which will have to be kept in any event. Besides I hope to be flying soon and will perhaps have lots of questions.

Craig....we have about 2,260 people, but many are inactive and more still may not be able to contribute.

If just 20 percent gave, and averaged $25 each, that would yield well over $10,000. Maybe we should consider filing as a Non For Profit. A car club I'm in did just that after running into issues like we have, and it's worked very well.

When I was in college working at a country western bar, we charged a $1 cover.  Not much money, but it served as an effective way to keep the riff-raff out.  I think somthing like that for "ALL" mooneyspace members would be a good idea.  For those who have already donated, the cover charge is paid in full...But everyone else should be required to make this small membership contribution for access to the forum.  1 buck for access to the best Mooney knowledge repository in the world is the best deal in aviation.

I am late to the party but glad to be invited. Mooneyspace is an extremly valuable asset to me and others. Even met a few people personally based upon like planes, interests, and hobbies. If you need more, please let us know. This is the only post where there is a 100% agreement.

Craig, thanks again for this great site.  Just sent in my funds and I hope any additional donations can continue to fuel this site for many years to come.
