  1. Thanks for setting it up Mike. Was good to see you and some of the group today as well as meet some new folks. Thanks to all for letting a Beech guy attend and feel welcome.:-) Was a beautiful day to get out and fly a bit. Chris and Anthony sorry you guys couldn't make it, I was looking forward to seeing you. Next time! Blue skies to all
  2. Well, no I'm not FIKI but have boots on all surfaces, alky props and windshield, heated fuel vent, heated stall vane and pitot heat of course. Also, have onboard radar for #4 scenario which was a go for me. Not sure it would be without the radar, but I'm used to having radar so not having it would really dampen my go no/go on that scenario.
  3. Im onboard with you Chris except for #3 which i think you may have got backwards. #3 would be a go for me so long as i had a good departure alternate . Mike the two engines dont really play into these scenarios for me. The two engines for me is really more of an enroute relaxer flying over unfriendly terrairn during night or low imc.
  4. It depends is a good answer for just about every trip. #5 however is a definite no go for me. http://www.flyingmag.com/technique/accidents/aftermath-failure-land
  5. Congratulations Mike!! Wishing you both the best!
  6. I think it would look great too. I wonder though if it wasn't hangared what kind of havoc the 150 degree skin temp would play on the sealant in the tanks not to mention the expansion?
  7. Hey Matt, West Star in Alton, IL did it. And they were fanatical about it. They did an outstanding job and pictures don't do it justice. There is no orange peel, dull area's, etc.
  8. Mike, the first one we looked at was $4,300. They were extremely proud of their unit. LOL The CR Spotless was a bargain compared to that one.
  9. Hi all, I'm not one to do many reviews but when I come across a service or product that is above and beyond, well, I feel the need to let others know of my experience. We had our corporate jet painted early this year and it is ALL black. It came out beautifully and it draws a lot of attention wherever we go. There are two comments that everybody makes when they see it for the first time. "Wow, that looks incredible".............and right after that comment comes "I'm sure glad I don't have to try and keep it clean". Washing and drying a plane of this size (Dassault Falcon) generally takes an 8 hour day with two people going at it. Well, it hasn't been too bad as we are under a hangar pretty much wherever we go but it still collects dust. In an effort to try and keep the paint looking brand new and not get the little swirls in it we went on a search for a no spot rinse system so we didn't have to drag a chamois or towels over the paint. I've tried the no spot rinse at various car wash centers with marginal success. However, the system we decided to try had a money back guarantee, so we figured we had nothing to lose. I am ecstatic to report that this system performs as advertised!!! Not only did I do the entire airplane in 4 hours myself but it dried without any water spots. There was even water laying on the top of the wing for hours and coming back the next day revealed what all the vertical surfaces looked like........spot FREE. I am attaching a picture and it's kind of hard to tell what it is.........but it is me taking a picture of the nose area of the airplane to show that there are no spots. It's crazy how reflective that black paint is. We were so impressed with the unit that we purchased one to keep at the garage to use on the trucks & machinery as well. This is the unit that we purchased. 10. I don't have to. Odds are you already know. [emoji12]
  11. Wow......I was just alerting Foreflight users that the new update was here and ready for download. Not trying to sway people from brand X to switch over or start a debate about which is better.
  12. The updates are here!! What a couple great additions to this already outstanding platform. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5V8hDMScd5I
  13. I was just kidding Chris. We have the 760 installed in the Baron but I loved the 830 in my Mooney. Somebody better snag this unit up!
  14. Chris will it read FF's in the low 20's? Any chance you'd finance this unit for me? The 830 is a great unit! Big easy readable display and very user friendly.
  15. Have used Don for several updates. Never an issue!
  16. Looks like a fun trip Mike. Also, nice to see something other than birds on your arm! Must be nice jet setting to warmer climates. I unfortunately go from cold to colder. http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N286D
  17. Ditto! I did all my prep work with King Schools for every one of my ratings. Yep they were corny but it worked. One thing they said has stayed with me and available for instant recall during every training event I've been to over the last 20 years. "There is no emergency you can't make worse by working too fast"
  18. All the jets I've flown including the 3 holers, have been very easy to manage with one engine out. They do get a bit tricky with one reverser hanging out and at full power! Must get that thing stowed as quickly as possible. The jet engines in corporate aircraft are very close to centerline. Interesting tidbit.......an engine failure in the Falcon 50/900 (3 holers) is considered an abnormal not an emergency. Even the Baron with the critical engine out is not that big of a deal IF handled correctly. What you can NOT do is get slow. Pitch plus power equals performance. Fly the numbers in level flight while you get the dead engine secured then continue to fly the numbers. If there is bad stuff in front of you well then too bad............should've thought of that before you pushed the throttles forward. Give up airspeed you had better be prepared to pull the other engine back in the interest of survival. In the Colemill President II she will give you 550+ fpm at gross weight once you get it cleaned up (which doesn't take long) and also has a 14000' single engine service ceiling. These guys apparently had the deck stacked against them by the looks of it. I have no idea what the airport surroundings look like but it appears as though the engine quit at the worst possible time with those buildings in the way?
  19. Fly by the numbers! Or be as good as this guy and forget the damn numbers. FF to 4:02 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7R7jZmliGc
  20. This was a tough thread to read.............There's always one without the knowledge or experience that perpetuates misinformation and OWT's. Now where is that dead horse and bat emoji??
  21. Chris Chris Chris!! It's bnicolette. Here is the thread: http://mooneyspace.com/topic/9525-sticky-valve-lycoming-io-360-a3b6d/?hl=%2Bmorning+%2Bsickness
