Looking For Pics Of An Installed GTN750Xi In Your Mooney

Recommended Posts

GT,

Have you found where everyone stores their picture galleries?

With the GTNs…. There are good options for remote mounting the xponder and audio panel…

you might have room for two 750s…

the 750 is very shallow at the top of the box… allowing it to be mounted near the top of the stack…

Lets see if Greg has any insight… @Baker Avionics

Best regards,

Yeah, I definitely would be going with remote on the Audio panel (GMA35R) and Trans/ADS-B (GTX345R). So really there would just be the 750Xi a GTR225 COMM and the Auto Pilot?

Garmin has done a nice job of making everything fit in the standard M20J panel…

There are many examples around here…

Stand by for somebody to point you towards their panel pics…

If you want to see some long body pics… I can point you in a few good direction…

Is it the same physical dimensions as the M20J panel?

For a quick look at how the the LBs come from the factory…

https://www.mooney.com/factory-aircraft-sales/

Two large screens and a rectangular back-up instrument and many things remotes…

You will also see the AP mounted vertically…

Looks nice....why can't all that new be $200,000!! :)

It can be….

If they could sell about 20k each year…

This is approximately the number of Corvettes coming out of the Bowling Green facility each year…

Imagine for a moment…

Mooney having an aftermarket department…

Where you could go there and select a new instrument panel for your plane…

I’d fly down to Kerrville to get what Niko is showing….

a set price, discounted by the hundreds they could sell every year….

Compared to the one off price we all get at our local shops…

I don't have an Xi, but it's practically the same size.

Very nice indeed. Would you like to have a moving map right in front of you or having it to the right side is fine?

I'm wondering what config you have in the stack with that GTN750Xi....I'm guessing there is just enough room for the GTN750Xi...Auto Pilot and maybe an Audio Panel?

It's very common to see a 750, an audio panel, and an AP control head in the radio stack - this is the setup I have in my J. But I think even if you remove the audio panel and the AP (and even if you relocate the annunciator panel), there won't be enough room to do two 750s stacked vertically. Every dual-GTN install I've seen in the center stack is a 750 and a 650.

The GTN is not that far away, pretty easy to monitor. I plan to get a G3X Touch eventually but it’s not because the GTN is somewhere other than right in front of me. I fly VFR now though. Maybe I’ll want the map in front of me once I start IFR but its placement has not been a problem.

Not as much as I would probably like, but I’m hopeful that it gets better with software updates. No crossfill as of yet. Otherwise, it’s fine. If I was doing it from scratch would do a 650xi and a gtx 35r, instead of the 375/255 but my first upgrade when I purchased her last year was to replace the Gtx 335 and the KLN 94B with the 375, so I already had it.

Just curious where’s your audio panel?

The GMA 35c is remote-mounted and controlled through the GTN 750 soft keys.

Ahh I got it. I know you can get a remote comm but didn’t know there was a remote audio panel. Nice!

I like your replacement switches, any chance you know brand or PN?

Here's one. Truth is, I wasn't initially thrilled with the layout as I wanted the two NavComms and GFC 500 stacked in the center, but there was a clearance issue behind the panel. There are different ways to get all this done and I could have perhaps looked at something more creative, but in the end, this is working fine for me.  IMG_2381.thumb.jpeg.19aec53df5d45ec241478f325a63de79.jpeg
