  1. Two paint shops that I'd recommend checking into: Wood Lake Aircraft Refinishing in Sandwich, IL http://www.woodlakeaircraft.com/ This paint shop is close to my home field and I know several people who have had paint jobs done there. The only downside is that they are usually booked up at least a year out. Mena Aircraft Painting in Mena, AR https://www.menaaircraftpainting.com/ My plane is currently there being painted right now and while the job isn't yet complete, I can say that the customer service is top notch. I chose this shop based on other reviews here and on Facebook. Price-wise, Mena Aircraft Paint was nearly the same as Wood Lake but they were able to get me in within about 4 months of scheduling. Note: there are actually a few paint shops on the field at Mena, AR and one of them has a bit of a bad reputation. Trea and Doug Blair own the one I pasted a link to above and have a good reputation, so don't confuse them with other one on the field in Mena.
  2. I run 25 square, or at least 25k RPM and whatever full throttle with ram air open gives me, and I lean it to about 11GPH.
  3. On my '69 E, whenever I press the flap switch up or down, the motor keeps going after it's reached the top or bottom. So, I doubt there are limit switches, at least on mine.
  4. I am a CFI and own an E. I’m at C77, which isn’t far from you. Feel free to send me a message if you’d like me to assist you with your training.
  5. Best I've seen with mine was about a quart in 9 hours. Worst was a quart in 4 just prior to overhaul. "Normal" for me seems to be about a quart in 6.5 to 7, keeping it at 6 quarts all the time.
  6. So basically you're using a quart every 4 hours. That seems kinda high to me, but then again you're just about to TBO.
  7. If that’s my only option, I will but it’s currently leaving me stranded so I’m hoping for something faster. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I’m looking for a fuel pump p/n 3140-49 for a ‘69E. I’ve tried McFarlane, LASAR, Spruce, and Quality Aircraft. If anyone has a lead, please let me know. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I agree with what Vance said above. Electric gear in my 69 E has been this way since I bought it and the gear rigging has been checked multiple times including by an MSC. Normal for my plane.
  10. I'd like to hear more about this. When you refer to the 4 magnets, are you talking about the 4 magnets that are already within the unit, or adding 4 additional magnets? Why do these work better than vertical card compasses? Thanks!
  11. I've used 3 sheets of this shielding under the top of my dash. That, along with the balls, got me close. Still not as close as I'd like to be though. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/inpages/magneticcompassshield.php?clickkey=12374
  12. You can get IO-360 cylinders from Continental / ECI, and (I think) elsewhere.
  13. I've used other year's (at least according to PlanePlastic's website) parts on my 69E and they've been fine so far. Usually if the picture looks correct, it's the right part, at least in my experience with them.
  14. I'm pretty sure LASAR rents travel boards. Give them a call.
  15. I am currently getting my IO360 overhauled at Poplar Grove Airmotive in Poplar Grove, IL. They overhaul to new specs and are fairly well known for the quality of their work. https://poplargroveairmotive.com/pga-overhaul/
