AeroCruz 100

AeroPoint 200

AeroPoint 300

Also great news with the avidyne fans:
BendixKing’s new partnership with Avidyne was on display at the BendixKing AEA exhibit, with the Avidyne IFD440, 540, and 550 rebranded as the AeroNav 800, 900, and 910. “We’re doing similar things that we’re doing with TruTrak, to help bring their product to more markets,” said Roger Dykmann, BendixKing v-p of sales for the Americas. “It’s a great navigator, and we’ve integrated them very tightly with our display systems, and it works very well with our autopilot. I think we can work together with our friend [Avidyne president and CEO] Dan Schwinn and make that product even more popular than it is today.

It all comes with warranty, but don't worry guys.  You won't need it, cause it'll break the day the warranty expires.

This is a fairly common event in history, where a technology company winds up rebranding other people's technology.   The value-add proposition is pretty small, so it's hard to stay in business that way.

That's not a shock to anybody, I'm sure.

They also did it with their UAT solution- they rebadged a Freeflight Rangr system. When I found that out, I bought the Freeflight and have been very happy with my choice!

Companies trying to carve out market-share for their products by hitching their name to BK seems like a short-sighted move.

Purchasing anything with the BK name on it seems like an unnecessary risk since BK doesn't really engineer or actually produce anything anymore.

So bendix King isn’t an avionics company anymore.  They produce stickers to put on other peoples avionics.  And force up prices and risk.

i have a trig 31 transponder.  Not the kt74

They did this with transponder KT-74, which is actually a Trig 31.

But at least they changed the faceplate,

Tom

One of Garmin's transponders is also a Trig TT31 with a different face plate.    I think the Trig guts are the basis for quite a few transponders.

I have a TT31, and to be fair, while it is usable, it is the worst user interface of all the boxes that are based on it.

Whoa, really?  I didn't know that Garmin sold any rebranded transponders.

It is so amazingly sad.  Bend King used to be THE name in avionics.  A King panel was the best you could get.  Lo' how the mighty have fallen.

Which is why in the Garmin thread I said Garmin is to the early 21st century what King was to the 80's.

That is completely accurate... and the really confusing part. This is everyone's perception and it isn't a secret to anyone in aviation.

One would really think that the Avidyne and TT people would know that tying their name to the BK marketing boat-anchor would cause major growth problems. It's tough to understand what their motivation to make a move like this... unless they are actively looking to be purchased by Honeywell.

They don’t,it’s avidyne axp-340 That is Trig mfd....comparison of circuit board reveal virtually identical construction for Tt31/kt-74/axp-340...each with a different faceplate.

A black hole will open when king has a kt74 which is a rebranded tt31, then gets an axp340, which is a rebranded tt31, and names it something else...

Time is a flat circle

By the end of this month or at most next month the long awaited KA310 will get the FAA’s blessing. This with the KI300, which has been out since January btw, will breathe new life to vaccuum dependent autopilots. This is a “game changer” in its own right! Then by Oshkosh the Aerocruze230 along with the certified  Aerovue touch will come out. Sarasota is already displaying it in an Aztec!

Yes, BK does things in unorthodox ways, but I like having them around!

No one else seems to have said anything about this, but those AeroPoint products look like the JPI 900 and JPI 960 products rebranded. I know that rebranding was the theme of this whole thread, but nobody picked up on the JPI angle.  I haven't seen any other news about JPI being acquired.  I wouldn't expect to see news about them licensing their products for OEM white-labeling...that's the point of white-labeling after all.

But did anyone else catch this?
