A nice warm afternoon in the mid-Atlantic area and a good day to go nowhere and back.
2350/15" 8 GPH LOP gives 115 KIAS for flight-seeing.

You should have called me Jerry. You could have come over and taken me over to Ben's to check up on my plane.

It was a great day for a drive. Even better one for a flight! Next time you are thinking about goofing off, drop me text. Nothing like a couple of old guys cruising.

We flew from Erie, PA (KERI) to Boston (KBOS) yesterday to pick up a friend before heading to Provincetown (KPVC) for the weekend.  I could have had him meet us at another of the airports, but Logan has been on my list to try for a while.   It was a fun and easy experience.  I flew the ILS 22L right in line with everyone else.   I was following an Embraer and was asked to slow down.     The photo below shows the line of planes behind us on departure.  And the approach into P-town.   Sorry for the stupid sideways pictures.

Wow, awesome! I've flown at 4.5k over KBOS but never landed. Where'd the fees end up in total? $200? Also where do you do your run up when you're in traffic like that, back at the ramp?

It is a bit ridiculous for a passenger pick up.  But I did it for the experience.   The handling  few is waived with a 15 gal purchase.

There are a couple options for Run up.  You can do it 'on the roll' when taxing out.   We were all being given 'line up and wait' instructions on the runway.   That would be another opportunity if you haven't done it already.

Flew up to Pendleton Oregon KPDT today. First time I've ever flown there. Went for a Doolittle Raiders Gala. It was super cool and seeing the B25 doing a lot of flying was great knowing planes that are well taken care of could fly forever, even if we can't. I got a video of the B25 taxiing right up to me after they went on a scenic trip with someone. Only charged $500 for it:) The sound of the engines running that close to me was awesome!!! Ended up having two other Mooneys parked there as well. c4fa72bc0c75832ea0e1f85c1f890e53.jpg35a4f9d53dde010005567ac68dee8766.jpg8731346884116da8611379b02e360e99.jpg

Awesome pic of those blades Jess, well done.  very artistic.  hows the shirts going?  Did you do what i said about the limited liability bit?

Thanks very much! Going well, thanks! I didn't do an LLC yet, because I switched how they are made. They are now through amazon directly, and in doing so, they wont let me use any copyrighted or trademarked names. I think that absolved me of future potential issues pretty well. While I can't call it a mooney shirt, I do get more commission on each sale now, and shipping is much faster. so everyone is happier.

So as to not derail the thread to much, heres the Ultra that was on display at this weekends AOPA fly-in at Camarillo! Didn't fly unfortunately this week...

So, what does your flight track look like when you take your 13 yo over the practice area, hand him the controls, and tell him he can do what he wants? Well, something like this... (He really likes trying to do steep turns)

It was a beautiful evening

Can i just say Richard that that DME arc is DAMN good, have you considered doing your IR yet.

I had to look up and see what a "DME arc" is. The track might look good, but really it is following along the foothills to enter the pattern. I like flying my entry that way because it avoids a lot of the traffic going between KAJO/KCNO and the practice area and gives me a good overall view of the airport environment.

The IR is under consideration, but if I go that route it will still be a year or so away from beginning. (There really are a ton of VFR days on this side of the country so I may or may not eventually go after it. Hopefully these comments won't drag this thread down the "my rating is better than your rating" path that has happened recently in other threads.)

My wife hates to take the car. Yesterday we took our shortest CC to UKI to see a quilt show at the fairgrounds it's a 7 minute flight vs a 55 minute drive there was also a 2 mile taxi ride plus all the usual airplane stuff. But hey it's always more fun to fly. Perfect sky but a bit bumpy. Landing and departure was with 15 with gusts to 20 at 90 degrees to 33 but Snoopy handled it no sweat. One thing that was strange is on shutdown at home the prop stopped with the blade up on my side it always stops with blade up on pax side. Weird hope it don't mean anything.

Did a trip around northern AZ on Thursday in the Arrow.   This is Horseshoe Reservoir, one of the reservoirs that holds runoff in the Verde Valley for the canals.   This reservoir spends a good part of the year empty and fills up in the spring.

Went to Winslow for lunch (the E&O cafe on the airport has great, simple Mexican food), and then to Flagstaff for some high-altitude airport practice.   On the way you go right past Meteor Crater.

On the way back from Flag we did an orbit around Sedona.  That's the airport on the mesa in the middle of the pic.   We didn't land this time.

Post oil change flight seeing.  Flew west to most northwestern point in continental US (Tatoosh Island) then returned thru Sol Duc Valley, over Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park. Port Angeles Harbor going & returning.  KCLM is in foreground of last photo.  One hour flight time.

Storm coming in tonight so this morning looked like a great time to go do some easy actual IMC.  Broken 1500 2200 etc higher.  Two RNAV34 LPV at KDMW and then  RNAV 15 as LP+V back to KMTN.  No ice.  Light turbulence.  Just enough rain to wash off the plane.

Hard to explain to the uninitiated why we find this so satisfying.

Finally got to fly "Lulu" to MDW for work. I have a story to tell- thanks again, Matt for the help!

Thought y'all would like my GS.. 40kt tailwind at 6k helped :D

Your ground speed is not from a tailwind. It is because your Foreflight's current location marker is a jet and not a low wing.:)

A beautiful day to fly to Galveston TX and visit my mother in law.   The beauty of a Mooney is that this is only an afternoon, not an over night trip!  Right above the clouds (mostly) on the way back.

Emory Peak (el. 7,825 msl) in Big Bend National Park 12 nm north of the US/Mexico border. Being within a US Defense Area and with no ATC coverage we were prepared for an F-16 identification encounter as we passed within 6 nm of the ADIZ but none occurred. Rio Grande valley (border) in the background. Beautiful, albeit bumpy flight.

Operation Mother in law day a success.  Pop to Sugarland. Slow up for a cessna landing.  Pick her up.  Chat with the Mooney C guy whose flat nose wheel reminded me that I need to put the old tubes into the plane. Run to Lake Jackson.   Yummy food.  Reverse procedure with a nice sunset flight.
