Ahh, the American Consumer

Had a guest come in with a five day old receipt, with the claim that she didn't get her full order. I was very nice and accommodating but I was resolute that I was not going to give her her demanded "Full Refund", on a five day old receipt, where her family ate the whole meal and no proof of what she claimed. After she loudly exclaimed to the whole restaurant how she felt of my service, she left the building. I was about to tell her to take a "Flying Leap"  with a police escort if she kept up her performance.

After watching what is happening in Ferguson, MO, why am I surprised.

rant over.

What the hell is wrong with people these days? No one will take any responsibility for their actions and try to work you over for a freebie. Every so often I have a patient that will come back to me a couple of years after I take their braces off insisting that their teeth where not straight when they finished treatment and I need to take care of it. luckily I take final records which consist of photos, models and 3-D scans. It's pretty irrefutable when I show them but they still feel like I have some responsibility for some reason.

Agreed..it seems like whatever business we are in we owe it to these people everything. Once they know you have a plane your a rich cat and then they feel you really owe the,..I'm a CPA and do the very best I can within the lousy laws we have to lessen their tax burden..actually last year had a lady send me my bill minus what she owed Uncle Sam because I guess it was my fault she under paid her tax from her paycheck or cashed out her IRA for A swimming pool. I have a small program if your in the Military I won't charge you,no problem..until some other folks become pissed because I did not charge Charlie. But her bill was $400 her check bounced..never in the old days was I stiffed now I need to do credit cards to get paid...due to the people that want to stiff us Shameful

I was a police officer before retiring and deciding to open my health club. After almost 20 yrs of police work I thought I had pretty much heard it all.

I was so wrong, I had not seen it all..Our club membership dues are set-up on auto debit from customer accounts. The complaints, bitching, excuses and whining I've heard from people who can't keep money in their accounts on draft day is unreal..some of these are as little as 10 bucks a month. If they don't have the money in there and their dues draft bounces it's amazing how  suddenly it becomes our fault, or the banks fault that they did not have the money in there. The draft dates are the same every month. We have about 2000 members...it's amazing how it always seems to be the same names who show up on the returns list. So many customers wanting something for nothing or ridiculous discounted pricing.

I'm really thinking about 10 more years and the club will be up for sale and I'll move to the beach...I might get a job as the little guy that puts your umbrella up for you when you come down for vacation.lol

As long as I make enough money to maintain my Mooney and do some flying life will be good :)

I spent an entertaining 20 minutes standing in the return line at Walmart.....

The things people try!

I was actually a little disheartened at what the store refunded in some cases....maybe Walmart is where they learned that this behavior pays?

I'm sorry, but the death penalty isn't appropriate for bad behavior. As a privileged, white, entrepreneur myself, I'm disgusted by the frequency with which others, not like me, are executed by law enforcement. I'm in favor of punishment for bad behavior, and even the death penalty when decided by a properly sworn and seated jury.  It's also terrible to be putting this power and responsibility in the hands of law enforcement officers. I'm sure Officer Wilson wishes he had responded differently. I would not want to have my life up ended like his has been. He'll certainly never be able to live in that town or work that job ever again. We do our underpaid and overworked police officers no favors by putting them in a situation where they believe the solution is to shoot and kill.

When anyone is pointing a weapon at me, I'd rather shoot them than be shot at. Cops are the exception, but I've never had one draw on me, that's a situation you have to work to get into. Folks that fight with cops, I just don't have much sympathy for them.

How's this relate to idiots wanting a refund for a meal they ate last week???

What has any of it got to do with aviation or Mooney's. At least Scott started out in the context of Timmy wanting to know something about aiplanes.

I'm pissed off by whats happend and happening to this country and its culture and people.

God speed "please"

At least while you were waiting you got to see some of the latest styles in pajamas for obese girls and "casual wear" for Clayton County's finest deer hunters .... whether you wanted to see it or not! :-)

Dave, you no longer have to leave home for that: www.peopleofwalmart.com

The death penalty also isn't appropriate for a law abiding citizen working to feed his family, i.e. Officer Darren Wilson.

Had Officer Wilson responded any differently he would've been dead.

As for these hoodlums rioting and destroying hard working taxpayers' investments and future, did they take off work to go riot and set fires? Where did they get all this free time? Do they work? Do they attend school? Do they assume any sense of responsibility for their actions? Do they care?

Remember all those riots and lootings by all those white folks when OJ was acquitted of the murder of his white wife and her white friend?

Cut me a break!

Well according to this:

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/ferguson-michael-brown-shooting-boycott-black-friday-aims-hit-america-where-it-hurts-1476517

The Black Panthers Party is now promoting a shopping boycott for Black Friday and Christmas. I guess this will make it a white's Christmas. No problem with me, I hate crowds at the mall.

gsxrpilot, Trust me, it's far different when life and death decisions have be made in a fraction of a second..It's always easy to be the person judging what they think the cop should have done based on news reports while sitting in the easy chair the next day.

I'm 5'10 and 250 in decent shape. If a 18 yr old 6'4" 290 lb man (not a unarmed teenager wearing his middle school cap and gown as the media likes to depict), toxicology results showed marijuana in his system and was known to have just committed a strong arm robbery just minutes prior. If this man is attempting to get my gun in a confrontational manner while I'm seated in my cruiser, a struggle ensues I can promise you I'm doing whatever it takes to go home that night. Sorry to open the wound up again and go off topic, but if you have not worn the badge and have never had to make those split second decisions please don't judge the actions. I have earned the right. I've been to more than one officer's funeral over the years.

Sorry guys, but had to vent. Now back on topic..What about that refund on the food Mr. Mcstealth?

All citizens of this country have the right to evaluate and question the actions of those who enforce our laws. It is not a special right reserved for former officers. There are countries where only the police can judge their own actions but this is not one.

Thank you for your service.

I ABSOLUTELY support questioning authority. I also ABSOLUTELY understand that calling this incident "death for bad behavior" is 100% the wrong way to look at this incident. The fact that 22 agree with the statement and "LIKE IT" shows me much.

I read the comment not as "Hey I'm the only one that can assess...because I have been there and done that", but rather tying to give perspective to how quickly these events occur.

If a member of law enforcement has a weapon out-aimed and is giving verbal commands...

Follow them.

There is dead right and dead wrong.

You are still dead.

Choices were made.

Guess where I stand?
