I have flown in that plane , century 2 , no altitude hold....Hes probably holding his peepee like a two year old by now......

Oh, oh -- he may need to strap the parrots to the wings to get a little more airspeed. Looks like he is down to 120 knots ground speed. That will make for a long day. ymu6y6yb.jpg

I think he has the extended tanks that take it up to 90 something gallons.

If he has the extended tanks with no speed brakes he then has 100 gallons useable. That is about about 11+ hours of endurance.

 

He will need to arrive before 8pm CDT or he will be on vapors

Just returned from KHYI San Marcos, it's busy but efficient. In and out in less than 30 minutes......don't forget to tip the line guys, they're working their butts off.. I'm going back tomorrow with the Mooney and meet with the a vintage Mooney Group. Keep flying Mike!

At the rate he is flying, he will be close to the 11 hours.

2/3 of the way done. Holding 120KGS (as planned w/ 20kt HW). On the curve. Let's hope the GS stays above 120. Even if the winds get him and he stops short that's one heck of a flight! GREAT JOB.

Testiment to a solid plan, great airplane, and competent pilot. Thanks for sharing your flight with us.

P.S. Mike, change your username from 201er to 201ER (extended range), and please NO damn surveys on how many gatorade bottles you filled!

BTW - for you guys watching the total distance on Flightaware the direct (great circle) route is 1318NM. Flightaware displays statue miles as the default distance.

You got that right Alan! You and I know him, can't imagine him sitting still for that long. I gotta believe he broke down out of shear boredom and joined the Mile High Club with his parrots... :)

I gotta ask him why he stayed at the same flight level instead if descend when getting headwinds. You could keep a higher average speed and the still air range would still be comparable, but a higher block speed.

Our fine feathered friend may be on his way to establishing an unofficial world record for a piston single between LDJ and HYI. I can't imagine anyone else choosing that city pair.

Smart guy: log 10+ hrs on your mooney and fill up 90 gallons for $90. No cheaper way to get to TX!
