I am looking for a wiring diagram for the electric trim system for a 201.  Its a century IIB servo.  I do not have the autopilot, just the trim motor and switch.  I was looking on the internet and came across 2 drawings for the manual electric trim schematic but am unsure if they are correct or not.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks guys!

I have it all at home. I told someone I would post it, but here I am in an airline terminal KPHX waiting for a delayed southwest flight with my Mooney up on jacks....

If I ever get home I'll post it all. I promise.

thanks for that!   if anyone has any detialed pictures of their electric trim area that would be great.  Bill @ mooney sent me some drawings today that I think will work but any extra info is good for all.

Is the trim not working? Ours did that and the diodes were broken. The solid copper wire broke on both. 3$ and 5 hours later we fixed it.

Adding electric trim - retrofit. Got the parts from a great friend that upgraded to a full autopilot.  I've got all the drawings now.  Just need to order a few items from Century and it will be a great addition.  The biggest complaint I get while flying with family and friends is the darn trim wheel gets in our way.  Im not a little guy and most of my friends aren't elves either so the trim wheel is in an akward spot.  Electric trim will make a world of difference in my case.

I am a little guy and I'm not too crazy about it either.

I don't think that you are going to want to remove your manual trim wheel just because you install electric trim.  I have both and certainly wouldn't want to rely totally on the electric trim.  The manual wheel works much better for small adjustments.  I only use the electric trim when I deploy flaps and then again on the ground to reset trim for takeoff.  Is it even legal to remove the manual trim wheel?

highly doubt you can remove the trim wheel.

The FAA won't even let you think about it

A fundamental principle behind things like autopilots or electric trim is that the pilot must be able to overide them

This is a very timely response. As many have read here, I recently had a case of runaway electric trim and the wheel is the only reason I'm able to report about it today.

curious to know how an electric trim will make a difference (unless you are seriously thinking about taking the wheel off).

OMG who is talking about removing the manual trim system, I am only ADDING electric trim for the convience during take off and landing those big adjustments for flaps gear etc.  thats all I want it for. making sudden grabs down to the MANUAL trim wheel bugs me and my passengers, electric would eleviate that. I would still use the manual wheel for small adjustments in flight but they are not sudden and you can gently casually reach your hand down there and make adjustments. I HOPE THAT CLARIFIES THINGS    lol... too funny, remove manual trim...EEEK

Interestingly enough, I was testing the electric trim switch and found the contacts were catching- that would cause a similar issue as runaway trim.  Cleaned them and put it back together and now it works good.

Hi, Seems I have same issue with the trim on my M20K 252. Can you help with the diode replacement please? Reference where to buy? how to replace? Many Thanks

They are inside a clear plastic tube thats zip tied to the fuselage side tube in the vicinity of the copilots right knee. Think right above the RH side air scoop vent.  cut the zip tie, slide off the tubing and youll see them. They are, IIRC, 12V diodes, easily procured from Radio Shack. Now, Mouser.

many thanks for the quick reply. One more question. Seems the autopilot works fine without the electric trim on the wheel. Does it mean it is a separate circuit for the PA?

I have taken a picture this morning. Is it the pink plastic form?

remove that hose and look behind it in that area for a pair of white wires. Each goes into some 1/4" or 3/16" clear plastic tubing, and they are zip tied to a tube in that vicinity. inside each of the plastic tubes is a diode, soldered to the wire. The solid wire breaks at the diode. Or at least mine did.

I found this while searching for an intermittent no trim condition. My partner was holding down the trim switch and it wasn't working. While lying on my back in the copilot footwell, my left elbow hit the side of the plane and the trim began working. Eventually we found it.

Need files or paperwork to install an EDO-AIR MITCHELL ELECTRIC TRIM SYSTEM, I have the entire system minus wiring harness and switch.

Schematics and 337 would be helpful, it's an M20E with an STEC 30 AP.

Looks like these uploads didn’t make it to latest site implementation.   @N201MKTurbo do you still happen to have these diagrams?

I’m troubleshooting trim on my M20J.

Many thanks!

Here's the Century II and III Service Manual, which includes a large quantity of various circuit diagrams for the many different incarnations, including a variety of trim circuits.    I went through a lot of this in anticipation of replacing the autopilot (which has failed) and keeping the electric trim system if possible.   There are a number of drawings that may apply, and figuring out which one best suits you may be a little tricky.
