Mooney in Oz Posted Friday at 08:02 PM Report Posted Friday at 08:02 PM Although I didn’t know Erik, it saddens me to read this. He came across as one of the nicest contributors to MS. Taken too young
kortopates Posted Friday at 08:46 PM Report Posted Friday at 08:46 PM So sad to read this. Although I never met him, in addition to Mooneyspace we shared a great many exchanges via Savvy and I always was impressed with how fit he kept himself. Can't believe he died so young!
exM20K Posted Friday at 08:54 PM Report Posted Friday at 08:54 PM I am very saddened by the news of Erik's passing. We grew up a couple of years and a couple of miles apart, have corresponded regularly over the years, and while we never met IRL, I do consider him a friend. He was so engaged, fit and active. Our little community here is poorer for his loss. -dan 1
MarkD34M Posted Friday at 08:56 PM Report Posted Friday at 08:56 PM This is indeed very sad. I was going back and forth with him recently on his engine overhaul woes and he was excited to get his plane back. RIP.
Hank Posted Friday at 09:03 PM Report Posted Friday at 09:03 PM Wow, this is a shock! Erik and I chatted on and off MS, and I counted him as a friend regardless of the disparities of our lives. I will miss his humor and constructive input here. Blue skies and tailwinds, Erik!
EricJ Posted Friday at 09:25 PM Report Posted Friday at 09:25 PM Oh, no! I always enjoyed his posts and especially the math geekery. The tail number on his airplane was icing on that cake. I will definitely miss his contributions here. :'( 1
M20F Posted Friday at 09:46 PM Report Posted Friday at 09:46 PM I very much enjoyed his posts and teasing him about math problems. We are minus one…. 1
takair Posted Friday at 09:50 PM Report Posted Friday at 09:50 PM This is sad news indeed. I met him once at a NJ Pilots get together. Very nice guy, great contributor, and he had a plane to drool over. Shocking.
DonMuncy Posted Friday at 11:02 PM Report Posted Friday at 11:02 PM I agree with all the above posts. We never met, but I considered him a friend.
Bartman Posted Saturday at 12:30 AM Report Posted Saturday at 12:30 AM I never knew Erik, but very much enjoyed his thoughtful contributions to our community. He will be missed.
Seth Posted Saturday at 12:45 AM Report Posted Saturday at 12:45 AM It is indeed sad news. I flew in Erik’s Rocket and him in my Missile. Very sad news. Visited his home in Potsdam, NY as well. He’ll be missed. Make sure to kiss/hug/call your loved ones and let them know how important they are to you. Anything can happen anytime. This was a non aviation death. He was cross country skiing at the time. -Seth 1
LANCECASPER Posted Saturday at 02:24 AM Report Posted Saturday at 02:24 AM Very sorry to hear about this. It's only fitting that his last post was math-related: I'm glad for his family's sake that he got his new engine installed and it looks like he got it broke in. This should make it easier for them to sell the airplane. https://www.flightaware.com/live/flight/N314EB/history/20251023/1532Z/KLNS/KLNS
Shadrach Posted Saturday at 02:42 AM Report Posted Saturday at 02:42 AM I’m very sorry to learn of Erik’s passing. I will miss his contributions and his intellect.
bluehighwayflyer Posted Saturday at 03:53 AM Report Posted Saturday at 03:53 AM Oh no. He was always so positive. And I loved his math geekery, too. I’m so sorry to hear this, but thank you for letting us know, Parker.
Andy95W Posted Saturday at 02:09 PM Report Posted Saturday at 02:09 PM You could tell by his posts he was a genuinely nice guy, even on the internet. He will be missed.
mike_elliott Posted Saturday at 03:41 PM Report Posted Saturday at 03:41 PM RIP Erik, your consul and encouragement changed my course for the better. I will miss you and our friendship 1
