Curious what folks are paying around the country for an IFR Cert.  Options in SOCAL are now $500 - $750 assuming there are no leaks or issues.  Everything feels expensive now...

I think my last one was half that, 250-300. Due again in December.

This time, I need to check on a way to get into town for lunch; KEPC is in the boonies, but when I go to the coast, I want seafood!

I had it done a couple of months ago, but I flew into his home airport rather than having him come to me or a group on my home field.  It was $350 with no repairs.

@DCarlton

$300 in August 2022 (91.411 and 91.413).  Precise Pitot Static 310-430-1941 based in Riverside.  He came to my hangar at KPOC; I left the check on the seat, he left the cert! Could not have been easier.

This is likely a dumb question, but can't you do it yourself?

Actually, I could. If I had the equipment. The equipment costs about $25k and has a yearly calibration cost of over $1000.

That makes sense, thanks. Once the new avionics are installed I'll have to get it re-done. Maybe the shop can do it in-house.

Mine was $400 at KLNK almost 2 years ago.  FBO there as been like a revolving door.  I think its Atlantic now, may be seeing if one of my buddies at Duncan next door will do it this year.

Duncan did two for me last August for $672.  BTW, it will be the same guy who did yours last time, Kim Wallace, as he is the only one around, and he works for Duncan.

I payed $490 last year with a G1000 & stand-by altimeter and they came to my hangar. I’ve had leaks in the past and was never charged anything above the fixed rate to do the static check.

These are the kinda prices I remember; a couple of hour's labor.  I guess I haven't been paying attention to the increases.  Appreciate the replies to the thread.  Don't feel so bad about $500-$750 now... although I've been bleeding money lately.

$325 for an Aspen and steam altimeter.  Precision Static Testing is mobile out of Livermore and comes around Lincoln (Sacramento) about once a month.  And he used to work for Mod Works in Florida so has great Mooney stories.

$400 flat rate whether they do it in my hangar or in the shop. I've been there while the do it. Takes about an hour. I think it was $150 when I had the first one done 20 years ago.  Neither the equipment nor the tech doing the certification has changed in tat span of time.

The transponder test set must have changed. There were no ADS-B testers 20 years ago.

Yes, I am sure there must be some additional testing equipment for the ADSB, but the bulk of the test appeared to be done with big, analog, 1960s boxes.

test has not changed.  it is still about checking that the transponder is transmitting close enough to 1090
