  1. Degausser, shop may or may not have one. Or bust open that old tube TV in the attic. Sent from my SM-G981V using Tapatalk
  2. This would be a no brainer here in the midwest (with no ice). I would hope that I would be able pick up a clearance in the air if things started to go south. The fact that the destination is towered and has nice fat ILS both ways and weather is above my personal mins, I would totally do this. One caveat is that I do not consider myself proficient at this time, as I have not done any approaches solid in the clouds this time of year. Educate me if north easterly ATC is going to hang me out to dry... Denver, San Antonio and Florida panhandle, (maybe KC and Minneapolis, not really that busy) are the only busy places I have flown and ATC has been gracious at all of them.
  3. I don't pay much attention to the ASI entering the downwind. Habit has me at mid field downwind irregardless of entry to be at 120 mph indicated, pulling up a tad like Yetti if needed to get the gear down in the E, I might glance at the tach. Down to 100 mph by threshold down wind, two pumps of flaps, 90 mph base, 3 pumps on final bows the nose down,... I do plan to be at pattern level 1/2 mile out and slowing depending on traffic. 4. I had about 100 hours, PA 28, C152 172 182 and Be 35. Insurance required 5 dual and 10 solo. Learned from my IA/AP/CFII who had quite a few hours in a G based here. It was a non issue in the M20E. Got my instrument 2 years ago and still learning. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  5. I wish Vetterman would get certified for repairs. Clint does incredible work. But I think the STOL/Vans crowd keep him too busy as it is. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  6. This is how we do hamburger runs in Nebraska. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Tailwinds Bob, you will be missed. Jan Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  8. Nice job! Good to know there's another CFII with Mooney experience close by. I may still be current but far from proficient since this covid thing. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  9. Yup, I've done the 3 bolt thing also. Pulling the cowling off and pretty sure my IA and I saw it at the same time. "This is why we do annuals" he said. Said a few hail Marys and ckd the torque and alignment on all of them. Luckily nothing got bent out of shape, but noticed a rub on the fiberglass lower enclosure that should have been my early wake up call. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  10. Sweet! Where are you based at? Looking at options for IAs since mine went all pilot on me and flying for Silverhawk now. Although, I bet he's not flying much now... Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  11. We have 3 Mooney's based at CEK, I'm waiting it out for now, but once this Covid-19 is over, I'm always looking for a safety pilot. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  12. You can get the new doubler from lasar, I had mine replaced when I bought it. I was shocked when the previous owner mentioned how much the little piece of aluminum cost. Pretty sure you could fabricate it, but should last another 50 years. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  13. My buddy has a "C" with the 185. Great plane, but always wondered how hard it would be to manually pump that fuel pump and fly the plane should the mechanical pump fail. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  14. I am in, I did buy a bunch of the projector bulbs that match the old style, but have not gotten around to trimming the reflector like the originals did.
  15. My Uncle Jack (through inlaws) owned Forney Aircraft which built a few of those before Mooney put the single vert stab on it. Forney Museum in Denver has one on display. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
  16. I heard from my buddy out there, it was pretty bad, totalled his pickup and wife's jeep. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  17. Just got done with IFR Certs at Silverhawk and the ramp guys teased me with this when I came to pick it up.
  18. Yup, Pryor, Oklahoma. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  19. Been thinking about busting open the old 36" RCA tube tv in the attic for the degausser. CFII was a little concerned with mine, but my check ride was cx last week due to wx and now im in annual this month. IA is gonna try the compensators first, but I'll be sure to show him this post. 20. First Pryority Bank, Doug Smith. Mike Jacob's was the president and Mooney driver. They know what their doing and know vintage mooney's worth. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  21. Mine does too, not sure why... Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  22. Actually had one side all apart last annual to install my fuel flow, it’s not slip joint. Still looks new.
  23. Forgot how hard it was to get the gear up on a go arounds after doing a few approaches with the CFI. Of course I was above 80 and positive rate of climb.
