  1. I use the top 2 slots in the PFD and MFD. When updating the nav data on the MFD I pull out the check list in the top slot and replace it when I’m finished with the update.
  2. I’m going to try East Coast Paint & Interior in Deland but only replacing the accordion around my entrance door. The quote was $1,200 and I also asked for a quote on my front seats (leather) $6,300.
  3. Brown has required an IPC annually for the past few years and I finally switched over to the them 2yrs ago. Brown has always had lower premiums. I have 6,000+ hours and just turned 71, it doesn’t seem like loyalty matters anymore.
  4. I set my FF between 29 and 30, seems to work out well with the 310hp.
  5. I only update the PFD and MFD using the top slot. I have the 1st generation of the G1000.
  6. On the Ovation the A/C service ports are located in the avionics bay, top left just above the removable panel.
  7. In my Ovation 2 the 310hp STC required a separate tack be installed because the G1000’s RPM did not go to 2700 RPM. I removed the tack once I had the Waas installed in 2016 because the profile was changed at that time to the Ovation 3.
  8. My Hobbs did the same thing and I disconnected it.
  9. Years ago I had the same problem (intermittent) in my M20J with the 530 and it was a bad antenna. Garmin sent a free replacement and I just had to pay for the labor.
  10. Try moving your stall warning tab up and down and side to side, mine hung up once after washing the airplane. I can feel where the stall warning tab hangs up on one side so I now know to to check the tab after washing that I didn’t hit it with the sponge when cleaning the leading edge of the wing.
  11. I had my magneto’s overhauled by Crossfire Magneto several years ago when it was located in Spruce Creek and run by Paul Bavard. Paul was a very knowledgeable person but he moved out of Spruce Creek (7FL6) a few years ago and I believe he sold the business.
  12. Jeff what avionics shop did you use? I’ve also got the G1000 in my M20R and used Premier down at FXE the last time I had a problem and found them to be very knowledgeable.
  13. I wish I saw this 2 wks ago, Chief aircraft was 1K more for 11. Mine are already installed.
  14. One of the things the software upgrade will do is give you FIS-B weather so they told me but I have yet to try it since I use XM weather. I didn’t have any problems after the .37 version was installed.
  15. So while we’re taking about lending, borrowing or renting tools I’m replacing my shock discs on my M20R and in need of the tool for the nose gear shock disc replacement. I’m located in central FL. and would be interested in borrowing or renting the tool for a weekend.
  16. If your airplane is tired down outside in the winter that’s exactly what you should do, less likely to get ice accumulation in your prop spinner. Water should run out the bottom before it freezes. It’s not to much fun getting in your airplane starting it up and the engine feels like it wants to rip itself out of the mounts.
  17. I have a 2005 M20R with the G1000 and looking for a part number for the CHT probe. On start up my #1 CHT X’s out on my MFD an comes alive after my run up and during flight but it bounces up and down on the MFD. A few years ago I had to replace one of my EGT probes with an ALCOR, ALC 86255 and that works on my MFD. Does ALCOR make a CHT probe for my application and if so does anyone have a part number?
  18. I had mine updated by Premier at FXE in December and had know problems but I had to order Terrain and updated Basemap from Jeppeesen before they could update to 0401.37.
  19. C&L repaired my O2 port great job. The reason your port started leaking after a fill was probably caused the mechanic quickly opening his O2 tank to start the fill instead of introducing the O2 slowly. After my incident I always tell them to fill the tank slowly.
  20. To solve the condensation problem just pull the dip stick out a few inches after each flight until the engine cools down a bit, that should solve a moisture problem.
  21. If your going to get the SVT unlock card you might as well get the TAWS-B unlock card also for about $8,000. As far as a software update the newest version is 0401.37. I don’t know all of the new enhancements but one of them is it now allows you to receive FIS-B weather although I haven’t tried it yet because I just recently had it installed by Premier.
  22. Daveanruth@aol.com, email them and they’ll put you on there list.
  23. This happened to me once after washing the airplane, try jiggling the stall warning tab on the leading edge. I found my tab gets stuck when it’s pushed up to one side.
