The Bacon Ranch Strip about HEC/037/18.4. Smoother than a baby's bottom and just as nice as any asphalt or concrete runway! Even ask Casey a fellow Mooney owner that went with me to make sure he didn't ding his baby, oh wait....I didn't ding mine either! Great times. The place has tie downs, fire pit and a nice deck alongĀ  with bathroom ammenteties! Enjoy

Ā No actually. I've been complimented many times at just how clean my belly is! And with the air filter, its an air filter as long as it does the job that's what matters!

That vimeo video wasn't actually mine. It was a friends. My video's are all on youtube under piperpainter . I use a Stealth Drift 170 camera. I've mounted it inside most the time but now have a mount on my wingtip. You can see video of that under my video titled "Lakeview airstrip" on youtube.

I'd like to try that sometime, at least a nice smooth grass strip.Ā  There is one fairly near me, Frasier lake, CA which is pretty smooth.Ā Ā  The problem is my insurance company expressly states, paved runways only.Ā  Which insurance company do you use?Ā  My broker is Falcon, and I forget who the insurance is, but I've had two different companies and they always say paved only.Ā  Do you just pay extra for the unpaved exception or am I just using a too conservative company?

I use dirt strips 99% of the time and have never had any issue, whatsoever. When going into an unkonown dirt strip for the first time, I just make sure about its condition. In most cases, I actually prefer them to paved strips. Both my own strips are dirt and that's about all my Mooney knows. I do have cement run-up pads on my strips where I park and do all power checks, but when I happen to be at a sandy strip that does not have one, I normally skip cycling the prop. Just do a mag check and set the mixture and off I go.
