Hey.........I owned a Piper Tomahawk.  Just last year as a matter of fact.  I bought it November 1st and sold it December 3rd.  Yep, it was a new record for me in airplane ownership.  I put just under 13 hours on it and I hated about 12 of those hours.  Unless it was dead smooth out, that tail would swing back and forth like nobodies business.  Laughing  The only good thing about that airplane was that my 8 year old could see over the panel with a pillow under him.  He had a great time in it and was sad to see it go.  After sales taxes and a little labor with painting and repairing the plastic, I actually netted $480 on it.  LOL  Probably the one and only plane I'll ever make money on.

BTW, I've owned my Mooney for 10 glorious months.

Will be 4 yrs this spring. I dreamed of flying as a very young boy and bought a subscription to Flying magazine, ever since then I wanted a Mooney, I had pictures of Mooneys on my wall as a boy. Never thought I could really afford a Mooney, but had 50% of a C150 for a few years, that came and went. Once that sold I had to have another set of wings so I bought a homebuilt, a KR2S, worked on that for about 7 years, got it on the gear and bought an O-200 for the KR. Well I decided to have the O-200 built so I could sell it for a certified aircraft or put it on the KR, giving me options for later, so I took it to a mechanic friend. About 2 weeks later he called me and said he knew a Mooney I could buy very reasonably but it needed an engine, (he convieniantely had one) so I bought it and worked with this mechanic for a few months. I have been over every inch of MY Mooney and even a few other airplanes too. There is no way I know of to go 180 MPH on fewer $, cheaper annuals, and less fuel.

I can't even believed I owned this thing?  However, it had been over 5 years since I owned a plane personally so I tip toed back into it.  For a month.  Then I took the big dive with the Mooney.

I can remember my first flight in this thing.  The winds were about 12 knots right down the runway in the middle of a sunny day.  On climb out, it was like a yaw dampner in reverse.  It felt like the tail was hinged and could fall off at any moment.  This didn't stop until in the flare.  In fact on final I can remember the runway going back and forth through the wind screen and I couldn't stop giggling.  I tried just stomping and holding the rudder one direction to get it to stop, but nothing I tried worked.  This is one airplane I have owned that I would flat out not spin!!  I went through series of stalls but wouldn't come close to letting that wing drop.  I haven't spun the Mooney either but thats because I baby it, not because I'm afraid the flippin tail is going to fall off.

Oh well, I'm sure we all have an airplane in our past that we just weren't fond of.  This is certainly my nemesis and the Mooney by far is my favorite.

I've had my Mooney 1 year, 5 months. Sadly, it's spent most of it's time in the shop rather than the air between the alternator, the panel upgrade, Annual, transponder, autopilot and now the starter/oil leaks. I still hold out hope for better dispatch this year.

Wanted to fly since about 6-7 years old.  I've had my current '81 J for almost 5 years (3/2007) and I picked up my first, a '65 C December 23rd, 2002 and owned it for 4.5 years.  I had 12.5 hours dual in my logbook and flew out with my instructor to Fargo, ND to pick up the C.  Our wives told us that with the 12/23 return flight, if we didn't make it back for Christmas, just forget it and get ourselves an apartment together somewhere on the way back!  Love/Loved them both and their pics are below.  :)

Just over Eight years.  Logbook says 12/18-2003 SSI-Brunswick, GA Remarks "Take Offs/Landings in Mooney.  My Intro to X-Ray" .5 hours.  I remember the pilot that brought it up from Ocala, FL for pre-buy said "controls are kinda stiff"...I explained the PC disconnect while we were maneuvering in the pattern.  The next day trying to return from Georgia I logged 6.2 hours on 12/19 with a REALLY strong headwind (weather) that only got me to Owensboro, Kentucky.  Beautiful day of flying on 12/20/03 returning to Cedar rapids Logbook comments- "Checked in at 5:50EST.  Flew 2nd leg of Journey home.  Beautiful clear skies..."  Best X-mas present I have ever received or ever will receive- My Mooney.

1 Year on November 30th.  I put about 150 hours on it since I bought it.  Went from not flying for 27 years to getting current, Mooney purchase and IFR rating.  2 years ago flying wasn't even something I thought I would do again.  Just stopped in at the local FBO to kick tires and see the glass panels and learn of this new stuff called GPS and classed airspace I had to get back into it.
