Well, it has happened!  We have received a letter from Garmin that there are several units on the hit list for delays.  Most notably, the GTN Series, GTR, GNC and others are on a 6 month Lead Time Delay!!!!  Just dropping a note to all folks that if you are looking and have been waiting for the right time to get your units on ordr, it's time to line up!  We ordered some of these units last month and not the estimated ship date is May 10th.  Contact your Avionics Shop if you have recently gotten an estimate form them and ask about it.

Also, we received a letter form them that prices are going up as well as of January 3, 2022 so if you are purchasing, get your orders in soon!

This has been a PSA from Baker Avionics, "Your Premier Avionics Repair Station of the Northwest".  Take care all!

I own a dental office, and we've had to shop around to different vendors for gloves, masks and even toothbrushes occasionally due to inventory shortages.  A local Walmart ran out of bags   It's a crazy time to say the least.

I just bought a Concorde RG-35A battery for my Mooney from Spruce for $350.  The last one I bought five years ago was a little over half that amount, and the darn thing is back ordered.

Maybe consider the RG 35AXC if they are in stock, it's a drop in replacement but more cranking amps, also a little more money.   I just put one in my Mooney.

Politics or reality?

It doesnt matter if its politics or reality.  Who knows, i might even agree with you. I might not. But this is a forum for aviation related topics. And biden/trump caused/didn't cause this is not aviation related. Just keep the politics out of it. Its not that hard.

it's not hard for rational adults. Most the time that isn't what we're doing with.

Even the barber shops knew that religion and politics were no bueno.

@EricJand @Niko182 have contributed three and two posts to this thread respectively with no content related to the topic, but rather giving in to their urge to tell others what not to do.  Perhaps you both should look in the mirror.  Nobody else is talking about politics. Your scolding does nothing to elevate this discussion or this community.

my business generates a great deal of lead.  We also consume a great deal.  There is no lead smelting in the US any more.  All the new lead is coming from abroad, mostly China.  Even if you can get a bulk ship to bring it, shipping costs are way up, deliveries uncertain, etc, so finished goods like ammunition or lead batteries will be expensive and scarce for the foreseeable future.

@exM20K The political comments have since been deleted. They were there initially when Eric and I made the statement. With those comments now deleted, the context of our posts don't make any sense.

I compared an order from Spruce from 2020 with current pricing on Spruce.    The Surefly price is a bit skewed because I took advantage of their pandemic special, but I guess I will start annealing my copper gaskets.

Item 2020 Price Current price
Percent Increase
Goodyear Flight Special Tire 137 149 8.8%
100 Copper Spark Plug Gaskets 22.8 44 93.0%
Surefly SIM4N 1185.75 1595 34.5%
Brake Lining (RA66-111) 6.75 7.5 11.1%
SA53S drain valve 24.5 24.5 0.0%
TEMPEST AA48108-2 23.5 25.5 8.5%
Tempest Fine Wire Plug UREM38S 87.8 111.75 27.3%

I switched to fine wires last year, and they have been awesome.  But if I had to do it again at these prices, I'd try the BY plugs first...

This is reinforcing my CB habits to anneal my used spark plug gaskets.  ;)

Yah no kidding.  In this moment of short supply and high prices I’m knocking on wood and hoping nothing breaks and not planning any upgrades for the moment.  I was thinking of upgrading my 650 to the txi but not right now.  My flaps switch just broke and got repaired with a salvage.

Well I don't believe I posted anything political.  Just stated facts about the supply chain issues and how it is effecting this industry.
